In the local area network, e-mail is often used by people, but because of the influence of the system platform, network mode and topological structure of the LAN, it can cause the data transmission failure, so that the email and its attachments cannot be sent normally. The author of the company's local area network in some workstations using WinXP system, but has been unable to send mail, which seriously affected the effective use of the LAN, if not resolved, then each machine equipped with WinXP system can only reload Win98 or other systems, which will cause a lot of duplication of work and waste of resources. After our efforts, we finally found a solution.
The following is an example of a WinXP system that explains how to modify the registry so that the network is unblocked and messages are sent normally. Our LAN is connected to the Internet using the downlink asymmetric transmission of the satellite. With WinRoute as the agent software, many computers in the local area network share DIRECTPC connection, because the packet size mismatch between the expected packet and the client, which causes the client to receive data blocking and can not send the mail problem. To send an email, the registry of the WinXP system needs to be modified as follows: "hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip\parameters\interfaces\{... }\mtu ", interfaces under the {...} Requires the user to determine which is the corresponding network card branch. In general, it contains content such as native IP address or gateway. The WinXP Registry contains more than one branch, which needs to be carefully identified to correspond to the server's network settings. After the branch is found, the key "MTU" of the new "DWORD" type is taken, with the decimal number "1466". After the modification is completed, restart the machine to send the mail normally, with the attachment also no problem.
Also note that the master server registry should also be modified accordingly. If other clients use Windows other systems, they should also modify their registry so that their messages are sent properly. The specific reference is as follows:
Hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\class\nettrans\ooox (x may be 0, 1, 2 ...) \MAXMTU (String value: 1462)
The above also need to determine the branch and then make changes. After modification, the client host can send e-mail messages and their attachments. If the server's registry creates a new MTU value, the client MTU or MAXMTU value should not be greater than the server-side value (if present). The value range can be modified according to the actual situation to achieve the best matching rate. After the successful modification, export the registry to make a backup, ready for a rainy hour.
