Solution to shared resource access problems caused by the default authorization mode of the server system

Employees in the Organization need to access a shared resource in the LAN file server. Many employees encounter a fault that the shared resource cannot be accessed at the same time during the shared access process. After layer-by-layer troubleshooting, the network administrator finds that the authorization mode enabled by the server system by default prevents multiple employees from simultaneously accessing the target shared resources on the file server. Now, this article will summarize the causes of this shared access failure and the troubleshooting process, and share it with you!

Shared fault Introduction

Recently, a certain office of the Organization is preparing to organize a large-scale scientific and technological negotiation activity. As many promotional materials need to be shared, therefore, the LAN administrator temporarily treats a common computer installed with Windows Server 2003 as a file Server and saves all active resources to one of the shared folders, allow employees to share access over the LAN. However, it does not take long before shared resources are published. Some employees report to the network administrator that the file server where the shared resources are located cannot be successfully logged on, the employees who have successfully logged on to the file server also reflected that although they can access shared resources, they can only see but cannot change it.

To find out the specific root cause of the fault, the network administrator immediately attempted to log on to the local network file server from the ordinary computer he was using and repeatedly logged on to the server several times. As a result, he found that the file server could not log on normally, on the System screen, a prompt message is displayed, such as the maximum number of remote connections and the remote connection cannot be performed at the same time, it seems that this fault is probably because the shared resources on the LAN server limit the number of users to access, thus allowing some employees to access shared resources, other employees cannot access shared resources.

Reason for initial troubleshooting

Since the fault prompt says that the number of remote access connections exceeds the maximum number of access, why should we go to the file server system and modify the access attribute parameters of shared resources to cancel the limit on the number of user access? With this in mind, the network administrator immediately logs on to the Windows Server 2003 Server System as a system administrator, opens the resource manager window of the corresponding system, finds the target shared folder, right-click the shared folder, run the "properties" command from the shortcut menu to open the attribute setting window of the target shared folder, and click the "share" tab in the setting window to go to the label setting page shown in 1, on the settings page, the network administrator finds that by default, the server system allows only five employees to access the data in the shared folder at the same time.

No wonder some employees can access the file server. Some employees cannot access the file server. If the number of remote access connections is less than 5, the employees of the Organization can log on to the file server system; if you have five users logging on to the file server, if an employee attempts to log on to the target file server to share resources, on the System screen, a message is displayed, such as the maximum number of remote connections and the inability to connect remotely at the same time. After finding the cause of the failure, the network administrator immediately selects the "Maximum number of users" option in "user limit" on the tab page in Figure 1, as a result, there is no limit on the number of remote connections to the file server.

Considering that the employees who have logged on to the file server system can only view and cannot modify the resources shared by the target, the network administrator thinks this is probably caused by improper access permission settings for the target shared resources, as a result, the network administrator immediately clicks the "permission" button on the tab page in figure 1 to go to the "permission settings" dialog box shown in Figure 2. In this dialog box, the default permission of the everyone account is "read ", so he changed the access permission of the everyone account to the "full control" option. After the modification, he clicked the "application" button, the failure in accessing, sharing, and sharing resources at the same time will surely disappear.

However, some employees reported to the network administrator that the file server of the Organization still failed to log on. However, this time, no employee reported that the target shared resource could only be viewed as unchangeable. The Network Administrator is a bit confused about the fault. What factors limit employees to access the file server at the same time?

Resolve shared faults

The Network Administrator thought for a long time and thought that it was probably because the network firewall installed on the file server was playing a strange role. However, when he opened the parameter setting window of the network firewall, however, no parameter can be found to limit the number of remote connections. The network administrator has to temporarily disable the network firewall program for a period of time and notify the staff to continue the shared access test, however, actual tests show that the failure of shared access does not have any relationship with the network firewall.

In desperation, the network administrator had to go to the Internet to search for possible factors that prevented remote shared access connections at the same time. After careful analysis and screening, the Network Administrator found that the number of remote connections option exists in the attribute setting window of the target shared resource, and the Windows Server 2003 Server System also provides the option to modify the number of remote connections in the Server authorization mode setting window, if the option parameter is set improperly, the number of remote connections has reached the maximum value, and shared failures such as remote connections cannot be performed at the same time.

To check whether the authorization mode of the Windows Server 2003 Server is set correctly, the network administrator immediately returns to the Windows Server 2003 Server Desktop, click Start, set, and control panel commands on the desktop. In the displayed system control panel window, double-click the "authorize" icon, in the select authorization mode dialog box shown in 3, the network administrator finds that the "per server" option is selected, and the number of remote connections is also limited to "5" by default ", it seems that the problem lies in this place. To remove the remote connection restriction, the network administrator immediately selects the "per device or per user" option. When a prompt for violation of the license appears, the Administrator clicks "no, in the subsequent settings for each device or customer, select the "I agree" option and restart the Windows Server 2003 Server system. After the server system is restarted, when the employee attempts to access the shared resources on the file server again, the failure prompt that the shared resources cannot be accessed at the same time will no longer appear, this indicates that the fault has been successfully solved.
