About PAE/NX
- PAE: Physical address extension (physical address extension). PAE supports 32-bit processors to access more than 4 GB physical memory. Whether or not PAE is supported depends on the CPU. If your CPU does not support the PAE function and you want to install a later version of Linux, you need to take over GB of memory. When installing Linux, the system will not use Pae.
- NX: No execute bit. NX allows the processor to help protect the computer from malicious software attacks, and PAE is a prerequisite for NX.
Note: Win8 installation is to CPU must support PAE/NX, otherwise the installation fails, see: http://windows.microsoft.com/zh-CN/windows-8/what-is-pae-nx-sse2
