- Fastpath and archive are valuable. For more information about fastpath, see my previous introduction: fastpath is based on openfire's customer service web im; chat archive is the support for saving all chat history on the server.
- Openfire clustering clusters are not open-source, because cluster 90% features are implemented through coherenceClusteringThird-party software is not implemented by openfire itself. Coherence is a memory sharing model that processes the logic of multiple servers internally. The upper layer can be used as a single machine. This module is worried that it will be removed in later versions. Jive wants to discard openfire to open-sourceCommunityOnly tering is commercially available. In addition, jive is less likely to implement tering again open-source in a short period of time. It is not a matter of value, and it will not be in the future. Users with special emphasis on the cluste function should jump to ejabberd.
- The core of jivesoftware will be transferred to clearspace in the future. The biggest task of openfire in the future is to integrate clearspace and provide the required social & collaborative functions. Xep support is not a top priority, but the current xep is enough.
- Clearspace integration. From the latestSource codeWe can also see that many clearspaceProgram. For users who deploy openfire separately, the features may be weak.
My personal hopes for improvement
- Web im. Pure web, using Comet/html/ajax, is not based on flash xiff, although flash is also good, but it is inconvenient to integrate with other applications.
- Openness. The plug-in mechanism has already done a good job in the opening of the server architecture, but there are many demands to change the sourceCode. The source code has been changed, and the server has a new version.
- Independence. It is recommended that you do not integrate org. jivesoftware. openfire. clearspace. The independence is lost. If you need to provide roster and other functions externally, you can make standard APIs and use them by third parties. Do not become a vassal of clearspace.
- For C ++ clients, Pidgin is the best and everything can be connected. Spark has a low degree of acceptance in China. (4 should not be possible :)
Open-source features coming soon (said to be 4/27)
- Reporting and chat transcripts plugin-Average
- Sparkweb-Sparkweb is flash-based.
- Client control plugin-The ability to manage clients will be available as an openfire plugin
- Fastpath plugin-Web im
It will take a few months to wait for the open-source program to be launched later.
- Reporting and chat Archiving-The Chat record is stored on the server.
