What follows is condensed notes on almost years of working in tech. In so time I ' ve worked with people and teams of different sizes, on different journeys, led by people with different Lea Dership styles. I ' ve seen some good, I ' ve seen some bad. I ' ve seen (and made) mistakes.

Here is a summary of my recent 20 years of work in the field of science and technology. During this time, I worked with a variety of people, teams of all sizes, and went through a variety of different processes. I was led by people of different leadership styles, I've seen good leadership styles, I've seen bad ones, and I've seen (and made) mistakes.

Based on these personal experiences, I ' ve come to understand how fundamental the right combination of people, and how they Work together, was to a company ' s success.

Based on these personal experiences, I have come to realize that the right combination of these people and the right work for them is crucial to the success of a company.

What's company Culture?

Company culture exists without anyone even have to try, whether do it or not. When you throw the people together to work in a problem, a culture is going to present itself. It's an organic thing the takes on a life of its own. It is therefore affected by everyone add, and take away.

What is corporate culture?
Try without trying to know, corporate culture is definitely there, whether you like it or not. When you organize some people together to solve a problem, culture will manifest itself. It is a life-like organism. Each increase or decrease in one person will have an effect on it.

Company culture is a unique and specific to each company. Establishing and maintaining a "positive" one is hard, but worth the effort.

Each company's corporate culture is unique, and companies are different. It is difficult to establish and maintain a positive corporate culture, but it is worthwhile.

It is the responsibility of all to contribute to the kind of culture they want to being a part of. But, it's the responsibility of the company leadership-to-support and nurture-that-process over time.

Everyone has a responsibility to make a cultural contribution to the company he wants to be a part of. However, the continued support and nurturing of this culture is the responsibility of the leadership of the company.

The CEO's most important job was to ensure the company maintains a positive culture, since every single aspect of how the C Ompany operates is touched by it.

Because corporate culture involves all aspects of the company's operations, the most important job for a CEO is to maintain a positive culture.

What company Culture isn't.
It is not a free lunches and snacks. It is not ping pong tables. It ' s not bean bags. It is not kegerators. It is not branded T-shirts or hoodies. It is not artisanal coffee.

What is corporate culture?
Corporate culture is not a free lunch and snacks, not table tennis tables, is not a bean bag sofa, is not a small beer barrels, is not a brand T-shirt or hoodie. Of course, the handmade coffee is not counted.

Don ' t get me wrong. These things is nice. If They is a feature of your working environment, that's a privilege?—? one that's lot of people working in tech has COM E to expect. Whether things like these contribute to making people feel happy and productive on their work, I really can ' t say.

I am not saying these things are not good, in fact, very well. If you have these things in your work environment, you have a "sense of superiority", because many people in the tech circle aspire to this. But it's hard to say whether these things can make people feel happy or productive at work.

But please don ' t mistake these trappings for culture.

But please don't bet your future on these icing on the cake.

What is the things that characterise a positive company culture?
Openness. Trust. Respect. Collaboration. Empowerment. Responsibility. Communication. Diversity. Empathy. Spirit. Emotional investment. Pride in work. Commitment to all other. Openness to criticism. And a lot more besides ...

What will foster a positive corporate culture?
Openness, trust, respect, collaboration, decentralization, accountability, communication, diversity, compassion, entrepreneurial spirit, emotional investment, job satisfaction, mutual trust, inclusion of criticism, and many others.

These is the kind of things that embody a positive company culture. One where people feel happy and productive in their work. Where the customer is both the end user of the product and the net beneficiary of the positive culture.

This kind of thing will nurture a positive corporate culture. People feel happy and productive at work. For users, they are end users and the ultimate beneficiary of this positive culture.

What is the things that characterise a negative company culture?
The opposite of everything above?

Any combination of these opposites would, over time, leads to a negative, toxic work environment and culture. People'll is unhappy, unproductive, dissatisfied with their job, and maybe even their life. No one would want to work on the company. The product suffers, the customer ' s become unhappy. Growth stalls, then falls.

Not a good outcome.

What kind of things will foster a negative corporate culture?
The opposite of the above is not the same ~:)

These counter-examples are combined, with the passage of time, leading to negative, toxic work environments and corporate culture. People are starting to be unhappy, unproductive, dissatisfied with their work, and even suspicious of life. Then no one will want to work in the company. The product is bad, the user is not happy, the higher the climb, the heavier the fall.

This is not a good result.

How can you create a positive culture?
If you were in a leadership role, then understanding that the the most important part of your job is the first step. However, since every single employee have the power to directly affect a company's culture (for better or worse) everyone h As a role to play.

How can you create a positive corporate culture?
If you play the role of a leader, then understanding corporate culture is the most important, just the first step. Of course, since every employee has the potential to directly influence (a good direction or a bad direction) to a corporate culture, everyone has a role to play.

Positive company cultures is created and maintained by working hard and being committed to all other. By establishing, as a team, who values the group wants to being defined by. By understanding, what principles would guide, each interpersonal interaction. By defining, the principles by which customers is treated. By committing to the Tenet's by which the product is built, sold and supported.

A positive corporate culture requires a lot of effort to create and sustain. Creation and maintenance form a mutual feedback system. When you create it, think about how your team wants to be defined. Understanding which principles guide the interaction between people. A standard way of stipulating that users are treated. Adhere to the product manufacturing, sales and service support guidelines.

The whole company needs to collaborate in a meaningful the "on" what these values and principles is. All new team members need to being educated on the company values and principles, and real buy--in are required to ensure the Sustainability and constant improvement of culture.

The entire company needs to collaborate through a method that conforms to values and principles. All new members need to learn these values and principles and make sure they are really listening. Only in this way can we ensure that the corporate culture is sustainable and progressive.

This might-a cult, or maybe a religion is formed. The IF members of the team were not fanatical on how the product was built, sold and supported, then what was the point of The company even existing?

Does this sound like the way religion is formed? But what is the significance of the company's existence if the team members are not so enthusiastic about product manufacturing, sales, and service support?

Finally, cultural change doesn ' t happen over night. You can ' t simply email a group of people and say "hey! everybody! More culture, please! " It can be a long, challenging journey, but one made easier by have everyone on board.

Finally, it must be said that the cultural changes are not overnight. You can not simply send an e-mail saying: "Hi, everyone, please more corporate culture!" "This process can be long-term and challenging. But the advantage is, once achieved, in the company of this ship, we will be together in the same boat!
