If you want to use an account to connect to the network as a proxy, we will introduce the method of using the route function to describe the ADSL proxy settings. Multi-host sharing of an ADSL Broadband line has become the most popular topic on BBS nowadays. Most of the methods are to use a host as a proxy, and other computers use this proxy to access the Internet. What should I do if the host is not enabled? A simpler method is to use the ADSL Modem with the routing function. For the specific implementation method, see the following section.
Hardware preparation
First, let's take a look at my network environment. The ADSL bandwidth I use is provided by the local telecom (monthly subscription ). use telephone lines, PPPoE virtual dial-up Internet access, and dynamically allocate IP addresses. the attached ADSL Modem is GRT1500. hardware required for networking: ADSL Modem, Hub, or small switch with routing function (the number of ports is subject to the need for networked computers) one cross-network cable and several parallel network cables (Note: 568B is used at one end of the Cross-network cable, and 568A is used at the other end. the parallel network cable is both made of 568B) and each computer Nic is one.
Step 1 of ADSL proxy settings: hardware connection
Connect the lanport of the ADSL Modom to the UpLink port of the Hub using a crossover network cable. of course, you must first connect the telephone Line to the Line port of Modom. connect other ports of the Hub to the network card of each computer through a parallel network cable (1 ). don't take it back!
Step 2 of ADSL proxy settings: Set the computer's Nic
The default IP address of GRT1500 is 192.168.1.1, so we must first set the computer and ADSL Modom to the same network segment; otherwise, communication will fail. the procedure is as follows (taking Windows 98 as an example, the settings of other systems are similar ). right-click "Network Neighbor" on the desktop, select "properties", double-click the TCP/IP protocol corresponding to the NIC in the displayed dialog box, and fill in the following content in the displayed dialog box:
IP Address: 192.168.1.2 (do not enter 192.168.1.1 because it is occupied by Modem; 2)
The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
The gateway is 192.168.1.1.
The preferred DNS is 202.101.107.55.
Note: DNS may vary across regions. Please consult the local telecommunications department. When setting the DNS, you must enter the server name. You do not need to worry about it. Fill in what you like, as shown in 3.
Step 3 of configuring ADSL Proxy: Modify GRT1500
The next operation is to modify GRT1500, Which is risky (similar to changing the motherboard BIOS). Therefore, we recommend that you find a host with high stability. open IE, enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, and press enter to display 4 images. in the "username" and "password" columns, enter root and 12345 respectively (if any, please refer to the manual or contact the supplier), and click "OK", as shown in 3 after logon.
