SharpMap is a Map rendering class library developed based on. net 2.0 using C #. It can render various GIS data (currently supports ESRI Shape and PostGIS format) and can be applied to desktop and Web programs.

The SharpMap License is GNU General Public License and the developer is Morten Nielsen (http://www.iter.dk /). The current stable version is 0.8 (9.0beta has been released), and the number of lines of code is nearly 10000. The following functions are implemented:

Supported data formats:
PostGreSQL/PostGIS, ESRI Shapefile
WMS layers
Supports the ECW and 2000's raster data formats.
Windows Forms control, which can be moved or scaled
Support ASP.net program through HttpHandler
Point, line, polygon, multi-point, multi-line, multi-polygon, and other geometric types
Openrycollections and other OpenGIS Simple Features Specification
Data Providers, Layer Types, and Geometry Types are supported.
Graphics are rendered using GDI + and support for anti-aliased and so on
