Snap Command Syntax:
Snap [-A] [-A] [-B] [-B] [-C] [-D] [-F] [-G] [-G] [-I] [-K] [-L] [-L] [-N] [-N] [-p] [-R] [-R] [-S] [-S] [-T] [-T filename] [-W] [-O outputdevice] [-D dir] [-V component]
Snap-E [-M nodelist] [-D dir]
The snap command collects system configuration information and compresses the information to Pax. File . Then File Download to a disk or tape or send it to a remote system.
Must have Root User permission to execute the snap command.
Use the snap-O/dev/rfd0 command to copy the compressed data to a floppy disk. You can use the snap-O/dev/rmt0 command to copy data to the tape.
You need nearly 8 Mb temporary disk space to collect all system information, including the error log Content. If you do not use the snap-a command to collect all system information, you may only need a small amount of disk space (depending on the selected options ).
The snap-G command collects general system information, including the following:
Error Report
Custom "Object Data Manager" (ODM) Database Copy
Tracking File
User Environment
Physical Memory And the number of page Spaces
Device and Property Information
Security Sexual user information
Write the output of the snap-G command to the/tmp/ibmsupt/General. Snap file.
Snap command Check/tmp/ibmsupt Directory Available space in. Directory Is the default output of the snap command. Directory . You can use the-D flag to write the output to another Directory . If you do not have enough space to store the snap command output, you must expand the file system.
Every execution of the snap command attaches the information to the previously created file. Use the-r flag to remove the previously collected and saved information.
Flag
-A collects all system configuration information. This option requires about 8 Mb temporary disk space.
-A collects asynchronous (TTY) information.
-B collects SSA information.
-B bypasses the dump set of the SSA adapter. -The-B flag only works when the-B flag is specified at the same time. Otherwise, ignore the-B flag.
-C: Create the/tmp/ibmsupt directory tree or compress the Pax image (SNAP. Pax. Z file) of all files in the specified output directory ).
Note:
Before using the-C flag, copy the information not collected using this option to the snap directory tree. If a test case is required to demonstrate system problems, copy the test case to the/tmp/ibmsupt/testcase directory before compressing Pax.
-D collect dump and/ UNIX Information. Use the primary dump device.
Note:
If you use the bosboot-K to specify a non-Unix running kernel, an incorrect kernel will be collected. During dump, make sure that/Unix is the kernel in use or connected to the kernel in use.
-D dir identifies the optional output directory of the snap command (/tmp/ibmsupt is the default directory ).
-E collects specific information about hacmp.
Note:
Collect specific hacmp data from all nodes in the cluster. This flag cannot be used with any other flag except-M and-D.
-F collects information about the file system.
-G collects the output of the lslpp-HBc command and requires the command to recreate the exact Operating System Environment. Write the output to the/tmp/ibmsupt/General/lslpp. HBC file. It also collects common system information and writes the output to the/tmp/ibmsupt/General. Snap file.
-G uses the-G flag to include the pre-defined Object Data Manager (ODM) file to the collected general information.
-I collect key product data (VPD) for installation and debugging.
-K collects kernel information
-L collection Programming Language Information.
-L collect LVM information.
-M nodelist: List of node names used to collect hacmp information (separated by commas ).
Note:
Currently, this flag is only valid when used with the-e flag.
-N collection Network File System (NFS) information.
-N: Check required available space is prohibited.
-O outputdevice copies the compressed image to a floppy disk or tape.
-P collects printer information.
-R removes the snap command output from the/tmp/ibmsupt directory.
-R collects SCSI raid information.
-S collects "system network architecture" (SNA) information.
-S uses the-G flag to include the security file to the collected general information.
-T collects Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) information.
-T collects all log files for multiple CPU traces. The-G flag only collects the database file trcfile.
-V component displays the output of the Command executed by the snap command. Use this flag to view the specified file name or file group.
Note: The snap command can be interrupted by pressing Ctrl-C. Return the prompt with the following options: Press enter to return to the current operation; press s to stop the current operation; press Q to exit the snap command completely.
-W collects WLM information.
Example
1, AIX A single-host system has network problems, storage problems, or dump:
* Enter the following command to collect all system configuration information:
* Snap-A: Write the output of this command to the/tmp/ibmsupt directory.
* Run the following command to create a Pax image for all files contained in the/tmp/ibmsupt directory:
* Snap-C
* Send/tmp/ibmsupt/snap. Pax. Z IBM Technical analysis.
2. A network, storage, or switchover failure occurs in the hacmp cluster:
* Run snap-A on all nodes;
* Run snap-E on the first node;
* Run snap-C on all nodes;
* Send/tmp/ibmsupt/snap. Pax. Z on all nodes to IBM for technical analysis.
