Organizations that have high requirements on data security, or private computers, are worried about data leakage. Therefore, disabling the use of USB is an effective way to prevent leaks. How can we achieve this?
1. Enter "Regedit" in the search box of the Start menu to open the Registry Editor. In Windows Vista, if UAC is not disabled, running the Registry Editor triggers UAC and a prompt window pops up. Click OK.
2. Find the following registry branch. If the branch does not exist, create HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
/System/CurrentControlSet/control/storagedevicepolicies, create a DWORD (32-bit) registry key named "writeprotect" with the value set to "1", 1:

3. When writing data to a USB device, disable write protection for the USB device. Repeat the preceding operation and set "writeprotect" to "0 ".

After modification, when a flash disk is inserted, the system will display a drive letter as usual, but only the data files in the flash disk can be read, and data cannot be written into the flash disk, to prevent data leakage.
