Superman's steel, the special effects are great. I remember when I first saw the Superman movie was a child, remind me of a lot of good memories. So in this tutorial we'll use illustrator and Photoshop to make Superman logos. The whole production process takes 3-5 hours, but not much, let's get started.

Step1

We first draw the basic shape in the illustrator, using the pen tool (P) to start creating the outer border of the logo.

Step2

Use the pen tool (P) to start creating the S flag (refer to the real logo).

Step3

If you look carefully you will find a few fine wires in the center of the logo, which you can draw with the pen tool. There's no need to be too careful, because we need Photoshop to make adjustments later.

Step4

Effects >3D> bulges and bevel . Self-setting Rotation: -4º, 0º, 0º, 120º. Change the projecting thickness to 35pt. Specific settings can refer to the following figure:

Step5

Objects > expanded Skins . Decompose the graphic, and then change the color to gray. Window > path finder . Merge shapes.

Step6

Now we're going to create a new document in Photoshop. I use 2880px*1800px. The background uses a white to black radial gradient.

Step7

Copy object paste (Smart object) into Photoshop. Please divide the basic form into one layer, the 3D protruding part is one layer, and the details of the yellow part are added.

Step 8

Select a yellow layer > Layer style. Select Bevel Relief , specific settings can refer to the following figure.

Step 9

Select the inner Glow , the specific settings can refer to the following figure.

Step10

Finally we can set the shadow , the specific settings can refer to the following figure.

Step 11

The following illustration is the effect of the layer style.

Step 12

Select now the effect is white edge layer > Layer mask, hide part details with a black soft Brush (B ) (Figure 1, 2, 3 area below).

Hides part of the details (Figure 1, 2, 3 area below).

Step13

You can now use the Pen tool (P) to hook up the black part, and then the layer mask to hide some details with a black soft brush (B).

Step14

Create a new layer on the red flag layer and use a black soft brush (B) to enhance the flag contrast. Ctrl+g layers are grouped (ctrl + click the red flag thumbnail) plus a layer mask to show only the logo section.

Step 15

Select the red flag Layer > Layer style. First select the bevel relief, the specific settings can refer to the following figure.

Step 16

Select the contour and use the default value.

Step17

Select the inner shadow, where the inner shadow is mainly to improve the brightness.

Step18

Now add a gradient overlay and use a radial gradient to achieve better lighting effects.

Step19

You can adjust the layer light and shade relationship according to what you do, the final effect can refer to the figure below.

Step20

Now start adding some textures. Select 3D extrude layer > Layer Style > Color overlay (yellow color). Import metal texture material, ctrl+g layers into groups (press CTRL + click 3D extrude thumbnail) plus layer mask, only show the projection of the section. Change the blending mode to multiply.

Step21

Create a new layer and use opacity for 30% white soft brushes (B) to draw the high light portion. Ctrl+g layers are grouped (press CTRL + click on 3D extrude thumbnails) plus layer masks, showing only the logo section. Change the blending mode to color dodge.

Step 22

In the new layer, use a black soft brush (B) to draw the dark part (change the brush opacity depending on the situation). The CTRL+G layer is grouped (press CTRL + click on the 3D extrude thumbnail) plus the layer mask, showing only the logo part, blending mode to linear depth. In the transitions (1, 2, 3, 4) The region can use the Lasso tool (L) to create a perfect transition.

Step23

Next, make a small shadow, copy the 3D projection layer and the red flag layer, and fill the black, filter > Blur > Gaussian blur after merging. Using a 10 pixel radius, change the blending mode to a multiply-bottom opacity of 80%.

Step24

Next, add the background texture, import the metal background material, and change the blending mode to soft light.

Step 25

Next add the logo texture, copy the metal background texture layer, and move to the topmost layer. Add a layer mask to show only the Superman logo texture.

Step26

strengthen the texture. The metal material is put to the top. Use blending mode for soft light opacity of 70%.

Step27

Add the final metal texture to the soft light with a blending mode.

Step 28

Ctrl+shift+alt+e stamped visible layer, blending mode to overlay opacity is 40%. In a new layer, use a white soft brush (B) to draw a light highlight, ctrl+g layer into a group blending mode to linear dodge opacity is 80%. Here is the finished production, let's see the effect. Because the size of too many source files could not be transmitted, so I narrowed a little upload.
