1. Install initialization
When you initially install SQL Server, Setup and script initialize the main device and establish the master, model, tempdb, and Sybsystemprocs databases.
system databases, predefined devices, and segments are organized in the following default ways:
A.master, model, tempdb database installed in the master device master;
The B.sybsystemprocs database is installed on the device selected during installation (Sysprocsdev);
C. Create three predefined segments for each database: system, default, and logsegment;
D. The default device for all users to create databases is the master device;
E. If you choose to install the audit database sybsecurity, it is located on its own device.
2. Major issues in device and storage management considerations
(1) Recovery
When a physical disk crashes, disk mirroring or saving logs on a separate physical device provides two mechanisms for database recovery.
(2) Performance
The disk read-write speed is the bottleneck of I/O operation, so it is helpful to improve the performance by placing the database objects on the physical devices correctly.
The system performance can be improved by placing logs and database objects on separate devices.
Put the table on one hard disk and put the index on the other hard drive, because the work is divided into two hard drives, so you can ensure that the physical read and write speed faster;
Disk mirroring reduces the speed at which disk writes.
