Sybase installation on Alpha

Never installed (even the client also did not), the project is a disk copy, the result now seems very dazed, or look at, after the opportunity to practice practicing. Server-side installation (11.x)
Pre-Installation Preparation work:
1. Go to Super User, modify system shared memory configuration
Edit/etc/sysconfigtab file with VI
To increase in the IPC domain:
shm-max=134217728 (128M) (modified according to machine memory configuration, usually equal to machine physical memory, in bytes.) If the machine memory is 128M, that is 134217728, if the machine memory is 256M, that is 256000000. )
Ssm-threshold=0

Add at the same time:
Rt:
aio-maximum=1024
Input disk exit after modification
2. Reboot system: #sync;reboot
Start installation
1. Insert a disc labeled Sybase server into the CD drive
Execute under Root
# mount/dev/dsk/cdrom0a/mnt (Note:/dev/dsk/cdrom0a for designated optical drive devices)
2. Increase Sybase users
Under the root user, execute the command adduser, and follow the prompts to complete the new user's settings. Then use the login Sybase command to log on to the Sybase user, edit the. profile file under Sybase user, and add the following variables at the end of the file:
Sybase=/usr/sybase (/usr directory is to increase the Sybase user specified directory, the installation must pay attention to the path, the same below)
Sybplatform=axposf
Ld_library_path= $SYBASE/lib
Export SYBASE sybplatform Ld_library_path
Modify Path= $HOME/bin: Save $SYBASE/bin:.:$ and exit
3. Sybase User logon Execution command
$ cd/mnt
To perform the Setup program
4. To set installation options:
A) Change the current installation directory to:/usr/sybase (that is, $sybase point to the path)
b Select the location of installation ("L" or Remote Install "R" locally)
(c) Enter the full name of the compressed document:/mnt/sybimage
D Enter the authorization password (open file with VI/mnt/install/cas available)
e) Select Adaptive Server Enterprise in turn, Monitor server for 11.9.3 ase,monitor Client Library, Language modules for Chinese four types The product, each choice should return
The system begins by copying all files from the optical drive to the $sybase directory, after the copy is completed, into the root user, execute the command umount/mnt, and remove the disc.
5. After installation, enter the $sybase/locales directory, with VI Open File Locales.dat, under the platform [AXPOSF] Modify the line LOCALE=ZH_CN, Chinese, EUCGB for LOCALE=ZH_CN, us_english , iso_1 to save the disk exit. ([COLOR=RED:D7C7AAEFBB] Note: You cannot have spaces after iso_1) [/color:d7c7aaefbb]6. First open a new terminal, in the $sybase directory with the "mkdir" command to establish the data directory. Enter the "Data" directory to execute the command srvbuild. Choose to install three types of servers (adaptive server,backup server,monitor Server), and then modify the device file path for the master database:/usr/sybase/database/ Master.dat (the path to the device file is determined according to the "Sybase" path), the "device" size is 60M; the device file path to modify the Sybsystemprocs database is:/usr/sybase/database/ Sybsystemprocs.dat, the size of "device" is 80M, and the other options are default values. Finally, click the Build servers! button to start the installation.
7. After the installation is complete, enter $sybase/bin, execute Dsedit, and select the product SYBASE SQL Server for configuration. First click the button Add new server entry, in the pop-up dialog box, enter the server name:sybsrv, and then click the Key Add new network transport, set Port number:4100, confirm and exit.
8. After the configuration is complete, check with the server for the correct connection with the isql command
$ isql-usa-p-ssybsrv

Installation of the client
1. Insert the Sybase client disc into the optical drive and execute under root
Mount/dev/dsk/cdrom0a/mnt
2. Add Sybase users, set up Sybase environment variables, install with server side
3. Log in as Sybase user, execute
$ cd/mnt
To perform the Setup program
Follow the prompts to complete the subsequent installation
4. Enter $sybase/locales directory, with VI Open File Locales.dat, under the platform [AXPOSF]
Modify rows Locale=zh_cn, Chinese, EUCGB
For LOCALE=ZH_CN, us_english, Iso_1, ([COLOR=RED:D7C7AAEFBB] Also note that iso_1 cannot have spaces [/COLOR:D7C7AAEFBB]) to save and exit.
5. Configuration of open Client side
Enter the $sybase/bin directory and execute the Dsedit configuration interface file. First click the button Add new server entry, in the pop-up dialog box, enter the server name:sybsrv, and then click the Key Add new network transport, set Port number:4100, confirm and exit.
6. After the configuration is complete, check with the server for the correct connection with the isql command
$ isql-usa-p-ssybsrv
When the 1> prompt appears, the description is configured correctly.
L SYBASE12.0 Installation Considerations
1. Change shared memory settings, build Sybase users, as described above, but do not modify user profiles;
2. Log in as Sybase user, modify the environment Lang, and set its value to null or us_english;
3. Run the./install in CDROM and eject the GUI installation interface;
4. Select Standard installation, file copy completed, click Exit;
5. Copy the contents of the sybase.sh file in the $home directory to the user's. profile file and make it effective;
6. Execute ASECFG The server configuration interface, choose to set up a new database server, specify the location and size of each device file. Click the Start button to create a new database server;
7. After the server is successfully established, configure the server with the Dsedit tool, specify the host name and port number, and test;
8. Client and server-side installation steps are basically the same, but the client does not use ASECFG to establish the server;
