System Center DPM Technical Preview Installation Experience

Objective

Overall, the installation process for System Center DPM Technology Preview is not very different from the installation process of DPM R2, and there is no significant difference in the management interface after the installation is complete. I believe that after the release of the official version, there will be a lot of new features and features released, new product support will be better.

The downloaded installation package is in EXE format and needs to be extracted first.

Go to the Unpacked folder and run the SCDPM installation file.

In this case, select the database to be used by DPM, I am installing a remote SQL database, using a named instance.

After entering the configuration information for the SQL instance, select "Check and install" for the pre-installation check, the following three errors are checked:

1) to install the SQL SP1 Management tool on the DPM server first, because my SQL is deployed separately from DPM;

2) Run DPM's SQL Prep tool on the SQL database server;

3) prompts us that the Installation Wizard has installed a single instance store for us, we need to restart the server to take effect;

After the DPM deployment is complete, let's look at the version number, which is 4.3.1012.0, which is higher than the version number of DPM R2, and the version number of DPM R2 is 4.2.

But strangely, the System Center TP version shows the DPM R2, it seems that the so-called TP version is still a lot of water in the inside, not a particularly perfect preview version, it can be seen that other System Center TP components are also probably so, I will not test each, and so the more complete version of it.
