Before we talked about how Exchange and Office365 hybrid deployments are configured, how do we verify our hybrid environment, mailbox capabilities, mailbox migrations, and so on after a successful configuration?

The current configuration is as follows:

    • All mailboxes are on-premises

    • Mail configuration for all users connect to local

    • All mail flows in and out of the local edge server

But we want to make the following changes:

    • Depending on the needs of the business, we can choose the mailbox locally or in the cloud

    • Cloud users connect to Office 365, and local mailbox users connect to local exchange.

    • Mail flow through EOP for message security and virus protection

Before switching between MX records and migrating mailboxes, we'd better do some testing to ensure that the production environment is not affected, and I'll test the following:

    • Set up a test mailbox on Office 365

    • Verify that mail flow between local exchange and Exchange online is normal

    • Verify the experience of Exchange online users such as global address Book, Free Busy information, ActiveSync device redirection

    • Migrate a test mailbox locally to the cloud

Create a test mailbox on Office 365

After the hybrid deployment configuration is complete, we can create a test mailbox directly in the EAC

650) this.width=650; "alt=" exchange-hybrid-testing-02 "src=" http://exchangeserverpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/ 02/exchange-hybrid-testing-02.png "height="/>

Fill in the relevant information, the OU section is completed before the OU can be configured by AAD connet

When you are done, switch to the Office 365 tab and find that the new mailbox does not appear

650) this.width=650; "alt=" exchange-hybrid-testing-04 "src=" http://exchangeserverpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/ 02/exchange-hybrid-testing-04.png "height=" 338 "/>

After a new mailbox is established, you need to use directory services to synchronize local information to Office 365, and you need to assign authorization to users in Office 365, we can wait for automatic synchronization or manually force synchronization, and here I recommend automatic synchronization so that we can also verify that the Sync service is working.

When the directory is synchronized, we can assign permissions to the user here.

Similarly, you can use PowerShell to connect to Office 365 to assign user authorizations.

ps c:\> connect-msolserviceps c:\> get-msolaccountskuaccountskuid                                                                ActiveUnits     WarningUnits     Consumedunits------------                                                               -----------     --------- ---    -------------exchangeserverpro:enterprisepack                                          25               0                0exchangeserverpro:PLANNERSTANDALONE                                       300000           0                0ps c:\> set-msoluser -userprincipalname [email protected] -usagelocation   "AU" PS C:\>&NBsp set-msoluserlicense -userprincipalname [email protected] -addlicenses  " Exchangeserverpro:enterprisepack "

After waiting a few minutes, you can see the new user's mailbox in the mailbox management interface.

Start Outlook to verify that Autodiscover is healthy. Note: Users need to enter credentials to use Exchange Online, because we use password synchronization, so users only need to enter the UPN address (email address) and local domain password, and tick remember password.

Verifying mail FlowNow we need to do some testing, the cloud Mail can send and receive from the Cloud and local mail

In order to do this test, I also built a new mailbox in the local, this mailbox will also be used to test the mailbox is migrated to the cloud, the mailbox is empty, in the case of actual migration is often the larger the mailbox, migration problem more.

Note that after a local user is established, you will have to wait a while before the directory is synced before you can see the new account in the global address Book

Send mail to local users and external users from the cloud mailbox.

When the message arrives, simply reply to a message to test the loop.

You can analyze your e-mail routing in exrca.com, if you are going to follow your wishes

650) this.width=650; "alt=" exchange-hybrid-testing-09 "src=" http://exchangeserverpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/ 02/exchange-hybrid-testing-09.png "height=" 325 "/>

Verifying the Client experienceWhile testing mail flow we have verified that the global address Book is visible on both sides, then another important thing is whether the busy \ busy information is visible on both sides, then we set up a meeting invitation in the calendar to test this feature.

650) this.width=650; "alt=" exchange-hybrid-testing-11 "src=" http://exchangeserverpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/ 02/exchange-hybrid-testing-11.png "height=" 314 "/>

If the busy \ busy information is OK, then you will not see the word "no information", so we first set up a meeting to invite the cloud and local users, and then start a meeting invitation again to see if there is information on the same time period.

650) this.width=650; "alt=" exchange-hybrid-testing-12 "src=" http://exchangeserverpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/ 02/exchange-hybrid-testing-12.png "height=" 310 "/>

Migrating Mailboxes to the cloud

We need to test the ActiveSync redirection feature, when the user mailbox is migrated to the Cloud ActiveSync should be able to automatically jump to exchange Online, so in order to test this feature, my local account has been configured on the mobile device successfully, we need to move the mailbox to the cloud first.

Before I established a Test account hybrid Test 1, this mailbox is local, and I have configured Outlook connection and mobile device connection.

Migrate mailboxes in the Office 365 interface, click Recipients-Migration.

Start the Mail migration "Migrate to Exchange Online".

650) this.width=650; "alt=" exchange-hybrid-testing-13 "src=" http://exchangeserverpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/ 02/exchange-hybrid-testing-13.png "height=" 239 "/>

After you configure the information, the message begins to migrate.

650) this.width=650; "alt=" exchange-hybrid-testing-15 "src=" http://exchangeserverpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/ 02/exchange-hybrid-testing-15.png "height=" 380 "/>

Wait for the message to be migrated, re-open the Outlook, autodiscover service will reconfigure the connection, the mobile device will automatically turn to the cloud the next time the connection, the configuration will not take effect immediately, but after a while will automatically switch the configuration from the local to the cloud

After the migration is complete, it is recommended to test the free \ busy information and mail flow and other content again

Test complete!!!
