Mixed Mode We all have a certain understanding, I have talked about a lot, such as the multiply-stacked mode, color filter mode and the previous phase of the hue blending mode.
Mixed mode is a very important function of PS, because PS is based on the concept of "layer", and the mixed mode itself is dependent on the "layer" exists, so that some non-layered image processing software does not have this function, such as LR and so on.
Mixed mode is too strong, in the drawing, calculation, filter, color, exposure and other fields have a very wide range of applications, today I only take a point: color, otherwise the scope is too wide, equivalent to white speaking.
Today I mainly talk about the following blending modes:
Multiply the bottom, filter color, soft light, hue, color.
These blending modes can affect the color of the picture, the exposure to different levels and different aspects, and can basically realize the normal color adjustment.
Start with a positive overlay.
Let's look at a picture first:
What is the characteristic of this picture?
People listen to me for so long later, should have a certain late intuition, the first feeling should be: The screen is relatively oily, there is no obvious high light, the high light part of the pan-blue.
Let's take a look at the histogram:
This can be obtained by the high light compression curve.
The original image is this:
The histogram is like this:
Obviously, the original image looks a little oily, because the high light part is revealed.
How do we achieve the transformation of images only in one step?
Just like this.
So, let's summarize the change that happens when you use a solid color in a mixed pattern that is a positive stack:
Exposure is characterized by high light compression, and the color layer is more likely to affect the high light portion.
We continue to look at:
What are the late features of these two graphs? The obvious is: low light compression.
Of course, there is also a color change process.
Contrast to the original, you can easily find exposure and color changes.
Histogram I do not list, very simple is the low light part of the missing, there is the use of low light compression curve effect.
Therefore, the pattern of color filter mode + pure color layer is characterized by:
Exposure is characterized by low light compression, and the color layer is more likely to affect the low light portion.
With the above two types of blending modes, let's summarize the advantages of blending modes:
Can adjust the exposure and color at the same time, through the color layer, mixed mode and opacity of the three common adjustment, can greatly improve the controllability of color.
Next look at the soft light mode:
This is just the picture, and obviously, the overall tone has changed markedly, but the exposure does not seem to have changed much.
Its layer structure is this:
Of course, its upgraded version is this:
Notice that I used two color layers, and the top color layer uses the filter mode, which is the typical "combination" blending mode, which usually uses one or more of the blending modes to complement each other, thus creating better results.
Therefore, the characteristics of the soft light mode + pure color layer are:
Color layer will affect the overall picture, can be a good color to create the tone.
Next, look at the hue blending mode:
In fact, I said in the last issue of directional separation is the use of Hue blending mode, then, what is the difference between us here?
In the last phase of directional separation, we are focused on a specific color, in other words, we have to absorb the color, and then use the hue blending mode, but here is not the same, we do not need to draw color, but directly use a specific color, which is the essential difference.
I'm going to talk about a hue blending mode feature here:
You can see from the above diagram that the hue blending mode has no effect on gray.
So, when you use the color layer, the object can not be black and white color.
corresponding to the color blending mode, its effect is this:
Obviously, you can see that in the color blending mode, the Black-and-white color can also be affected.
So, the difference between the two should be very obvious.
Hue blending mode is not valid for black and white colors, and color blending mode is valid for Black-and-white color.
So, when we adjust to the same picture, you'll find that the area of the hue blending mode is locally specific, because it has a limited effect on the partial gray part of the screen, and the color blending mode is different, and it has an effect on the overall picture.
According to this picture you can obviously find their difference, above is the hue mode, the original gray wall is not affected by much, and the following color mode, you can see the wall into blue.
These are the introduction, in fact, the most important thing is:
How do we use them?
Below, I have summed up their scope of application and their respective advantages:
Multiply the bottom of the stack:
Can be used to create a quiet atmosphere, similar to the effect of the high light compression curve, color layer more affect the image of the high light part.
Filter Color:
Can create the taste of film and air sense, similar to the effect of low light compression curve, color layer can more affect the shadow part of the picture.
Soft Light:
can affect the overall color of the picture tone, but it is not as color mode on the screen color change degree, the overall effect of soft, natural, more widely used.
Hue:
One can separate color, the other is through the use of some typical colors, can be very good to create a color atmosphere, whether it is neutral color, retro color, film color, deviation color are no problem.
Color:
Can greatly change the color appearance of photos, can be used to create monochrome pictures, can be used to unify the color of the picture, opacity can be used to control the uniformity of color, the higher the opacity, the higher the uniformity of color, but usually, we generally do not set too high opacity, In order to achieve the color layer and the original image Color fusion.
Tips for using:
One, the reasonable use of opacity.
Second, a reasonable definition of color layer color.
Third, learn to use "Mixed mode group", that is, through a variety of mixed mode of interaction, adjust the overall effect of the picture. For example, the use of color mode to change the appearance of color, and then use the soft light mode for rendering, and then use the color pattern to create air sense, three layers to adjust the opacity, to achieve the best results.
For example:
Finally, I sell a few, above these several mixed models have a corresponding "standard color", they are I through continuous practice summed up a set of colors, the scope of application is more extensive.
At the same time, also corresponds to a set of "combination color", and then have the opportunity to introduce to everyone.
Because the time relationship (mainly lazy), many places or speak very hastily, a lot of things also did not speak out, can only be a lot of people through practice experience. For example, the role of opacity, the different blending modes of color influence degree, color uniformity, blending mode combination, hue and color mixed mode difference and so on (in fact, I would like to give you the contrast map to make, so it is very easy to understand, but it is lazy).
