Baidu, a search site that has been hailed as Google in China, is now following the startup history of Google-expanding into overseas markets. On the other hand, however, it is also very similar to Google's experience. In this process, Baidu also suffered an Internet domain name dispute.
Baidu has more than half of the Chinese search market, and Baidu opened its Japanese website last month. www.baidu.jp is also the company's first non-Chinese search service, Reuters reported. However, it is surprising that www.baidu.co.jp, a similar domain name, has been first registered by another user. It is reported that the registrant is a Japanese company named CBC. On the first page of the website, the company said: "We have nothing to do with the Japanese Baidu website and are a legal Japanese company ." It is reported that the website provides four different content services, including imported watches, second-hand cars, Chinese restaurants, and industrial waste. In addition, the website also has a Chinese version, and a user blog. By midnight on Monday, the website attracted a total of 286 viewers. For similar websites with this domain name, Baidu has applied to the Japanese intellectual property arbitration center to transfer the domain name to itself. So far, Baidu has not commented on the incident.
Google has already set up its own Web search service in Japan and South Korea. However, Google is also suffering from the troubles of similar domain names in China, such as Gmail.cn domain names being preemptible by others. After Google made a domain name acquisition request, the domain name owner, the Chinese Beijing Network domain name registrar ISM technology company, refused Google's request. At present, neither a spokesman for Google nor ISM has commented on the incident. On the other hand, Google is also in Poland unable to deal with local poet organizations due to domain name disputes.
