1. First make sure that the ArcGIS License Manager service in ArcMap is turned on, and if it is not, turn on the service, as shown in the following figure:
2. Open the ArcMap window, click "File", "New ...", create a new blank map, as shown in the following image:
3. Right-click in the Catalog directory, select "New", "Shapefiles ...", as shown in the following figure:
4. In the popup Create New shapefile window, enter the name cell surface layer, Feature type select Polygon, then click Edit, as shown in the following image:
5, click Edit, pop up the spatial Reference Properties dialog box, you can choose Import or select coordinate system, import is to introduce the other map of the coordinate reference system; Select is a new coordinate system, as shown in the following illustration:
6, because it is the first time to create, we choose Select, after the selection of the results as shown in the following figure:
7, click the toolbar in ArcMap editor Toolbar, pop up an editor toolbar, click Editor, select "Start Editing", as shown in the following image:
8, click Edit tool-> cell surface layer->straight Segment, and then draw the surface layer graphics in the panel, as shown in the following figure:
9, after the completion of the drawing, remember to select "Editor", "Save edits", the last "Stop Editing", such a plot of the surface layer is drawn out, as shown in the following figure:
10, click Save, give a name to the map document, and finally in the Arccatalog directory, you can see the newly saved Mxd map document, as shown in the following image:
