Note that this is a change under the Windows system! To view or delete a folder's read-only or System properties, use the attrib command at a command prompt: 1. Click the Start button, type cmd in the search box, and then press ENTER. 2. To view the syntax of the attrib command, at the command prompt, type attrib//?. Warning: If you remove the read-only or System attribute from a folder, the folder may appear as a normal folder and may lose some custom features. For example, Windows customizes the Fonts folder and provides a private folder view that allows you to hide variables such as bold and italic. It also allows you to change the folder's view settings in a font-specific way. If you delete the read-only and System properties of the Fonts folder, those custom view settings become unavailable. For folders that you customize by using the Custom tab of the folder's Properties dialog box, if you delete the read-only property, you may lose the folder icon and other custom features. If your program cannot save files to a folder with read-only properties, such as My Documents, you can use the attrib command at a command prompt to change the read-only property to the system property. To remove the read-only property and set the system property, use the following command:
Attrib-r +s drive:////For example, to remove the read-only property of the C://test folder and set the system property for it, use the following command: Attrib-r +s c://test Note that if you set the System property and read-only for some folders Properties, some programs may not function correctly. You can remove these properties by using the following command: Attrib-r-S C://test
