have played unity and MMD should all know mmd4mecanim this thing, almost can perfect the PMX/PMD model into FBX import unity.
But this fbx is not mapped, and unity is reading the map through the XML for, so importing Maya is a gray color.
Find a lap tutorial seems to be only a combination of blender imported material method, feel more cumbersome, wrote the plugin one-click Import material.
However, the animation will still be imported through MotionBuilder.

This is written in Maya 2015 's Python API, other versions have not been tested _ (: З"∠) _

Prepare:
1. Install version 2015 of Maya and version 2015 MotionBuilder. (must be the same version, otherwise not connected)
2. Use the Mmd4mecanim plugin in unity to convert the PMX/PMD file to an FBX file. (Can not ask Niang ╮ ( ̄▽ ̄ ") ╭)

To install the plugin:
1. Copy the mmd4mecanimimport.py file to the maya2015\bin\plug-ins\ directory.
2. Start Maya and check Auto-load and load in the "window---Settings/preferences, Plugins Manager". On the menu bar there will be an extra mmd4mecanim import.

steps:
1. Click Mmd4mecanim Import to go to the Browse window, select the Fbx file Mmd4mecanim, and double-click Import model and material.
2. Open MotionBuilder, click File, open Mmd4mecanim to turn out the fbx file, pop-up box to remove the material tick (in fact, do not remove also can, obsessive-compulsive Disorder _ (: З"∠) _).
3. Select the skeleton (or the entire model box is optional), and click Update Current Scene, file--, Send to Maya.

Note:
1. fbx file names and map filenames cannot be in Chinese or Japanese, and VMD files do not matter. (Do automatic conversion to English and write a lot of code is not necessarily full-_-or manual pmdeditor or metasequoia change it)
2. Only one model can be imported at a time (support multiple and write many more code-_-). Then save as standard FBX model and then new scene guide another.

Friendly tips:
Maya in the full selection of models, but also can be sent to MotionBuilder, so MotionBuilder also have material, but the light to adjust the light/global lights to set the RGB value to full 1.

Import C4D Select the model to add smooth shading. But C4d has a good MMD plug-in does not need this/_\

To import UE4, you need to export the model and animation separately to the FBX file before you can import it.
