How to use a screen saver

A screen saver is a moving picture or pattern that appears on your computer's screen when you have not used the mouse or keyboard for a specific period of time. Screen saver is a great way to personalize your computer. The following are some of the tasks you can do with your screen saver in Windows:

Turn on screen saver

When you open the screen saver, it will be added to the unsaved theme. For more information, see Getting Started with the topic.

Open screen saver settings by tapping the right edge of the screen toward the middle, click "Search" (if you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the pointer down, click Search), enter screen saver in the search box, and then click or click Settings and Change the screen saver.

In the screen saver list, click or click an option, and then click or click OK.

Tip: To stop the screen saver and return to the desktop, click the screen, move the mouse, or press any key.

Change the screen saver

If you want to try a different screen saver, you can select multiple screen savers that are included with Windows.

Open screen saver settings by tapping the right edge of the screen toward the middle, click "Search" (if you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the pointer down, click Search), enter screen saver in the search box, and then click or click Settings and Change the screen saver.

In the screen saver list, click or click the screen saver that you want to use, and then click or click OK.

Tip: To see how your screen saver works, click or click Preview before clicking or clicking OK. To end the screen Saver preview, click the screen, move the mouse or press any key, and then click or click OK to save the changes.

Turn off Screen saver

If you don't need to use a screen saver at all, you can turn it off.

Open screen saver settings by tapping the right edge of the screen toward the middle, click "Search" (if you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the pointer down, click Search), enter screen saver in the search box, and then click or click Settings and Change the screen saver.

In the screen saver list, click or click (None), and then click or click OK.

Use your own photo as a screen saver

You can create a personalized screen saver by selecting some photos to use on the slide.

Open screen saver settings by tapping the right edge of the screen toward the middle, click "Search" (if you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the pointer down, click Search), enter screen saver in the search box, and then click or click Settings and Change the screen saver.

Under Screen saver, click or click Photos.

To change one or more screen saver settings, click or click Settings, and then do one or more of the following:

To specify a photo to be used as a screensaver, click or click Browse, select the folder that contains the photo you want to use, and then click or click OK.

To change the slide show speed, click or click the list next to slide show speed.

If you want to display your photos in random order, select the Shuffle pictures check box.

Click or click Save to save your settings changes. Then click or click OK in the Screen Saver Settings dialog box. Warm tip: Digital cameras or SLR photos can be adjusted in advance and then set to screen saver.

Remove the screen saver from your computer

If you install a screen saver problem, or know that it will not be used again, you can uninstall it from your computer. (You cannot uninstall Windows's own screen saver.) )

Open screen saver settings by tapping the right edge of the screen toward the middle, click "Search" (if you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the pointer down, click Search), enter screen saver in the search box, and then click or click Settings and Change the screen saver.

Click or click the screen saver you want to remove, and then click or click Uninstall.
