The number of followers in the Lync 2010 client has reached the limit

Source: Internet
Author: User

Problem description

The Lync 2010 client has a hint that the number of followers has reached the limit, and the user who has the problem appears randomly, and the problem disappears by having Lync log off multiple times. It is not possible to eradicate the problem by multiple adjustments through the command.

The error is as follows:

Problems occur in the environment

Lync System: Lync Server 2010 Enterprise Edition

Operating system: Windows2008 R2 SP1 Standard Edition Chinese 64-bit

Number of users: 1000

Problem recurrence

The problem cannot be reproduced on a schedule, the problem occurs randomly, and disappears automatically after a few hours, or by manually logging off and signing in to a Lync customer multiple times

Problem analysis

Network more than the way is to modify some parameters and adjust some parameters, in fact, it is not recommended adjustment, because the parameters do not solve the problem, but also the problem of the system is omitted.

Why do you say so, here to give you a detailed analysis.

First of all, why is there a limit on the number of followers?

1, the default system configuration for Lync Server 2010 User's category subscription number is 1000, determined by the maxcategorysubscription in Cspresencepolicy, can be adjusted by command Set-cspresencepolicy, Maxcategorysubscription can be set to any integer value between 0 and 3000, so the maximum number of user's category subscriptions is.

2, Cspresencepolicy There is another parameter maxpromptedsubscriber, maxpromptedsubscriber the maximum number of prompt subscribers that the user can have at any time. By default, each time you add to another user's contact list, a notification dialog box is displayed to inform you of the situation and gives you the opportunity to add the user to your own contact list, or to prevent the user from viewing your status. Before you take action and close the dialog box, each notification counts as a prompt subscriber. This parameter can be set to any integer value between 0 and 600 (containing the boundary value), and the default value is 200. If you set this value to 0, users will not receive any notification when they are added to a contact list for another user.

3. A user user1 (called publisher) is added to the User2 contact list by a user user2 (called subscriber), typically a category subscription including Calendardata, contactcard, note, state, Five categories of services. Typically the value of Maxpromptedsubscriber and Maxcategorysubscription is set to 1:5. Queries can be made through a background database in Lync, such as the five categories

4. When a user's category subscription reaches or exceeds the value defined by Maxcategorysubscription, the number of followers has reached the limit.

The user [email protected](Publisher) has a category subscription of 5, which can be queried through a background database in Lync

650) this.width=650; "title=" image "style=" border-top:0px; border-right:0px; Background-image:none; border-bottom:0px; padding-top:0px; padding-left:0px; border-left:0px; margin:0px; padding-right:0px "border=" 0 "alt=" image "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M02/7F/3C/ Wkiol1cxviozudoyaagpscgrmss210.png "" 558 "height=" 295 "/>

You can query for a user with a category subscription greater than or equal to n (this example is n=5) by querying the background database in Lync (publishers)

650) this.width=650; "title=" image "style=" border-top:0px; border-right:0px; Background-image:none; border-bottom:0px; padding-top:0px; padding-left:0px; border-left:0px; margin:0px; padding-right:0px "border=" 0 "alt=" image "src=" http://s3.51cto.com/wyfs02/M01/7F/3C/ Wkiol1cxviwsc32jaaga7gv3nz8045.png "" 558 "height=" 308 "/>

A simple example:

If the user User1 the maximum category subscriptions (maxcategorysubscription) to 15, the user User1 has been added as contacts by User2, User3, and User4, and when User2 logs on both the PC and the phone, The user user1 the category subscription number will become 10, another subscriber User1 user User3 first login on the phone, the user user1 the number of category subscriptions will become 15, If you sign in at this time User4 or any user who subscribes to user User1 (including User2 and User3), you will see an upper limit of User1 followers from the contact list.

The network has some methods can only be temporarily resolved, not very recommended blindly implementation, such as:

Adjust the number of contacts added to the maximum

Set-csclientpolicy-identity global-maximumnumberofcontacts 1000-maximumdgsallowedincontactlist 64

Set-csuserservicesconfiguration-identity Global-maxcontacts 1000

Then the number of category subscriptions is adjusted to the maximum

Set-cspresencepolicy-maxpromptedsubscriber 600-maxcategorysubscription 3000

However, if you put these values to the maximum, then someday the user will reach this number, and by then, you will not be able to increase the value again.

So, here I suggest that if it has been adjusted, before the problem occurs, the first adjustment back, Microsoft's default value is for his reason.

Recommendation: The maximum contact (maxcontacts) is the default value of 250,maxpromptedsubscriber to 200, and then the number of category subscriptions (maxcategorysubscription) can be slightly fine-tuned: 1000~1800.

Well, understand the cause of the Lync 2010 issue, at this point, you should understand the parameters can not be arbitrarily adjusted.

Problem solving

So how do we solve this problem?

L method One (recommended): Let the user delete some contacts that are not frequently contacted to reduce the number of category subscriptions. Lync user maximum number of contacts recommended not more than 250, a department can contact with the company 250 people often this is really rare, do not compare enterprise collaboration tools with QQ. Remind users that even if they do not add the other person as a contact, they can also communicate and collaborate, and can find contacts by searching. Also, if you do have a special requirement, like a leader, you can create a single csclientpolicy, Cspresencepolicy, and Cspresencepolicy policy, and then adjust the parameters to apply the policy to individual users individually.

L Method Two: Empties the number of subscription categories for the user and is currently only available for deletion in the Lync background SQL database. However, if you want to empty, even the user's contact list, as well as the custom group, will be erased, which is equivalent to resetting all users ' contact lists. You can then use the third-party scripting tools to uniformly import the Contact group list to the user.

Please back up the rtc-full data first.

2. Pause the Lync Service on all front-end servers.

3. Execute instructions in the following order on SQL delete the following three tables (case-sensitive):

Delete from Contactgroupassoc

Delete from Contactgroup

Delete from Contact

4. Restart the Lync service on all front-end servers.

5. The client logs back in and all contacts (including regular contacts) are deleted.

L Method Three: two times through third-party development, do not use the Lync System Contact List Group.

Final recommendations

How to effectively control the number of followers has reached the limit of the problem

==============================================

1. First, learn more about the actual needs of customers to add contacts and how to find contacts frequently. Within a business/organization, it is possible to add contacts to the list, depending on the level of business and work contact, but if the contact list adds a lot of contacts, such as two hundred or three hundred people, it is not easy to find a person in the contact list, and the average user may also be directly entering the name of the contact to find it. If this is the case, you can streamline your contact list.

2. Limit the number of other users who are reasonably subscribed to by certain users based on the degree of business and work contact and the actual situation of the customer. For example, a department of the basic staff of the work interface is limited to a group within the department, you can appropriately limit the number of people who can add contacts.

You can use the following two parameters to limit the maximum number of contacts allowed to be added by all users and some users. Note: When a user A adds another user B to user A's contact list, User A has a subscription to User B's category number of 5 when a client logs on.

A) Set-csuserservicesconfiguration-identity Global-maxcontacts < maximum number of contacts >

This sets the maximum number of contacts a user can have; The default value is 250. The Maxcontacts property represents the absolute maximum number of contacts that a user can have. However, you can use the Csclientpolicy cmdlet to limit the maximum number of contacts for some users to a value that is less than maxcontacts.

b) Set-csclientpolicy-identity Global/filter-maximumnumberofcontacts < maximum number of contacts >- Maximumdgsallowedincontactlist < Maximum number of distribution groups >

Maximumnumberofcontacts indicates the maximum number of contacts a user is allowed to have. The maximum number of contacts can be set to any integer value (including boundary value) between 0 and 1000. Set to 0 to prevent users from owning contacts.
