The author recently encountered this kind of trouble: Love machine into the "Waiting" state, my Arctic Shunguang drive always sleep awake, causing str dysfunction, to hot start to wake up the computer.
The basic configuration of the author's machine is PⅢ866CPU, gigabyte ga-60xm7e motherboard (I815E), IBM Tenglong Ⅱ 30GB Hard Drive (this motherboard also supports the Ultra ATA100 and STR two new technologies, Teng long Ⅱ on behalf of the hard drive also support ULTRAATA100, Millennium 128MB Memory (PC133), LG future window 795FTplus display, polar bear 48-speed optical drive. The operating system for Windows Me, related drivers are: Intel815 display chip driver version 6.1, Intel6.10.011 multi-language ultraatastorate driver.

I use the "Press power button" and "timed" two ways to enter the "Waiting" state, machines can be accurate "shutdown" (in fact, the memory is in power, other parts are in the Shutdown state), double-click the mouse at any time, the computer can be awakened in a few seconds, the desktop automatically restored to standby before the state. But after installing the Intel6.10.011 multi-language version of the Ultraatastorate driver, the machine can no longer sleep properly--often can not really sleep, can only be like the general machinery, "Shi", that is, the electric fan still whistling to work; I sleep quietly, but I can not wake up, Always "gray screen", had to press the reset key to wake it up. The "subtraction" and "replace" tests prove that the STR function is normal without the installation of the optical drive and replacing the polar bear's 48-speed optical drive with the source Hing 24-speed optical drive. It turns out that the polar bear is making trouble, causing the computer to wake up. After repeated groping, I learned that After installing the Intel6.10.011 ultraatastorate driver, the hard disk controller's two IDE interfaces work in UDMA5 and UDMA2 transmission mode, while my polar bear 48-speed optical drive does not support the UDMA2 transfer mode well (can work, but not wake). The right remedy, I found two ways to solve:
Method One: selectively install UltraatastoragedriVer Uninstall the Intel6.10.011 Ultra Atastorate driver First, and then run Ultraatastoragedriver with the "setup/a" installation parameters. This extracts all the driver files without installing the driver itself (the file will be placed under the C:Program Filesintelultraatastoragedriver directory if the path is not set). Then manually update the Intel (r) 82801BAUltra Atastoragecontroller and Primaryidecontroller drivers (note, do not update secondary idecontroller). The method is to turn on Control Panel/System/Device Manager/hard disk controller. Select the item you want to update the driver for, open Properties/driver/Update Driver, select Specify driver location, press Next, tick "specify Location", click "Browse", Select the location where you just stored the extracted file, choose "WINME", "OK", and restart the computer.
Method Two: Manually change the transfer mode of the CDROM. Automatically install the UltraATAStorageDrive6.10 version, select "Program/intelultraatastoragedrive", open "companion", select "Device Parameters", select the CDROM device, manually "transfer mode limit" by " Do not restrict to "DMAMW-2" or "PIO-4", "OK", "Commit changes Now", and restart the computer. The IDE connector on the CD-ROM drive connects to the optical drive in "DMAMW-2" or "PIO-4" mode, and the STR function returns to normal.
Summary: Some hardware may cause your computer to fall asleep and wake up, such as an optical drive. Encounter this kind of problem should first use subtraction and substitution method to diagnose the problem, if the diagnosis is unwilling or unable to replace the relevant hardware, you can find a way to "drive" word.
