The plural number of the mouse
Now, in order to show my courage, I will face the most difficult topic to argue with the input device: What is the plural "Mouse. Although everyone knows that multiple rodents are called mice, no one seems to have the final answer to what to call multiple input devices. Neither "mice" nor "Mouse" sounds wrong. The third edition of American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, which I used to refer to, is not mentioned.
Wired style: Principles of English usage in the Digital Age (hardwired, 1996) states that "Mouse" is better to avoid confusion with rodents. Doug Engelbart, who invented the mouse in 1964, is not very helpful in this controversy. I once asked him what the plural number of the mouse is. He said I don't know.
Finally, the authoritative Microsoft manual of style for technical publications told us "avoid using the plural mice. If you have to mention multiple mouse, use mouse devices 」. It sounds like an escape, but it is indeed a wise piece of advice when everything sounds wrong. In fact, most sentences that require the complex numbers of mouse can be modified to avoid it. For example, try to say "people use the almost as much as keyboard" instead of "pople use mice almost as much as keyboards ".
When I read a book, I thought that the study by foreigners was indeed rigorous, and I would check all the details. This is indeed necessary. Otherwise, the mouse will become two mice, and a conceptual joke will occur. I bought two mice and I bought two mice. Then I inserted them into my computer.
The study should be rigorous.
