The computer can only recognize IP addresses such as "201.51.0.73" when it communicates on the network. But can not know such as www.ccidnet.com domain name, but, when open the browser, in the address bar input such as www.ccidnet.com domain name, you can see the required page, this is because there is a call "DNS server" computer automatically put our domain name "translation" into the corresponding IP address, and then the IP address of the corresponding page.
What is DNS
DNS (domain Name System) is the abbreviation for the "name Systems", a computer and network service naming system organized into a domain hierarchy that is used for TCP/IP networks, and is used primarily for user friendly, user-friendly names such as www.ccidnet.com Instead of boring and difficult to remember IP addresses (such as "210.51.0.73") to locate the appropriate computers and corresponding services. Therefore, if you want a friendly name to be recognized by the network, you need to have a "translator" between the name and the IP address, which translates the relevant domain name into the appropriate IP address that the network can accept. DNS is such a "translation officer", it works can be represented in the diagram.
