The use of large hard disk partition software

DM million version is a very powerful hard disk initialization tool, it can in a minute to partition a large hard disk and format finished. Because Windows 98 comes with Fdisk with a problem with large hard drive support over 60GB capacity, it is recommended that you partition a large hard disk with a DM million version.

(1) Start DM

Then unzip all files in the DM Universal version of the package to a Windows 98 system boot floppy diskette.

Insert the system boot disk into the floppy drive, start the computer, press Del to enter the BIOS setting, and in the "Advanced BIOS Features" (Advanced BIOS setting), set the "First boot Device" option to floppy, Restart the computer after the first boot disk is changed to floppy and save BIOS settings. When the Multiple Configuration boot menu appears, select Item 1th "Start computer with CD-ROM support (after starting the computer to support the optical drive)" to start the computer. Input "DM" at the prompt and enter, you can start DM million version. Start DM, the first will appear some text, directly press ENTER to enter the DM main interface. As shown in Figure 1.

(2) partition the large hard disk through DM

Position the cursor to the (A) dvanced options (Advanced options) option, and press ENTER to enter the secondary interface. Position the cursor to the (A) dvanced disk installation option, and then press ENTER to enter the partition status. The current system-installed hard disk is displayed below the Drive list (device listing) on the right side of the interface. If the system has more than one hard drive, a carriage return will allow the user to choose which hard drive to partition. Select the hard drive you want to partition, and press ENTER directly.

In the appearance of the interface for the selection of partition format, generally choose FAT32 partition format. Position the cursor to the Windows osr2,98,98se,me,2000 option, and after pressing ENTER, the system asks if you want to use the FAT32 format. If "NO" is selected, the hard drive is FAT16 format. In the previous formulation of the partitioning scheme, we chose the FAT32, so we have to position the cursor on "Yes", press ENTER to continue.

Then enter the partition size Setup interface. DM offers three partitioning schemes, so we need to select option (C) Define your own (custom partitioning) options because we need to customize the partition size. Press ENTER to enter the partition size Setup interface. In this interface, the first need to set the size of the C disk, according to the partition scheme before, enter the capacity value of C disk (1GB=1024MB), its basic unit is MB, so if C disk to be divided into 3GB, you have to enter "3072", press ENTER. Then enter the capacity of D disk, press Enter and then input e disk capacity ... Until all the partitions are well divided. As shown in Figure 2.

Complete the partition value setting, showing the final partition detail results. If you are not satisfied with the partition at this point, you can also adjust it by prompting the key. For example, the "DEL" key deletes the partition, and the "N" key creates a new partition.

After confirming that the partition is correct, position the cursor to the Save and Continue option, and then press ENTER to save the result of the setting. In the prompt window that appears, ask if you want to format quickly, and we recommend that you select the (Y) ES option. In the prompt window that appears, ask if the partition is formatted according to the default cluster, and select the (Y) ES option. In the confirmation interface that appears, press ENTER to begin the formal partition and formatting of the hard drive. The operation is complete, restart the computer.

(3) Format the hard drive

After you have finished partitioning your hard disk according to your partition scheme, you are prompted to restart your computer, and then you can use the hard drive to format the system after you restart the machine. There is a format formatter in the Startup disk of Windows 98.

Use the system boot floppy disk to enter the startup computer again, enter the "Format C:" Command at the prompt, and return to the system and prompt to delete all data on C disk. Do not care about it, press the "Y" key after the carriage return confirmation, at this time the program began to format the C disk, the format is completed, the program prompts the C disk Distribution volume label. Direct return confirmation, the program will automatically add the volume label C, so, C-disk format work completed, the disk can store data.

In the same way, we need to format the other logical hard disks, and then reboot to be used.
