The VMware Host Agent service does not start properly
Causes and Solutions
have been using VMware Server 2.0, the others are OK, go out will have some small problems, such as the VMware Host Agent service does not start properly, as the Vmserver UI cannot be opened. The workaround is as follows (using Windows 7, for example):
1. Open c:->programdata (hidden directory)->vmware->vmware SERVER->HOSTD, other operating system paths may not be the same, please try to search hostd or datastores.xml;
2. There is a datastores.xml file under the directory, it is because of the corruption of the XML file that caused the service to not start;
3. This directory will also have a datastores.xml.default file, copy, renamed to Datastores.xml, overwrite the original; (You can also delete the problematic XML directly, VMware will automatically use the default file to reconstruct one);
4. Run->services.msc, find 5 VMware Services, there should be 4 in a running state, all stop, start the VMware Host Agent, and finally start the remaining services;
5. Here, VMWare server should be able to work again.

Make sure that you have the required access rights

The VMware Infrastructure Web Service at "HTTP://LOCALHOST:8222/SDK" was not responding (Connection refused).
Try Again
The service may isn't responding because HOSTD is too busy or because it's not running. Try again in a few moments or restart HOSTD. Until communication with the VI Web Service is restored, VI Web Access won't be able to manage any hosts.
