The walls are fragrant

People buy some products not because they are the best, but because others are using them. The fashion of children's toys and sports shoes has changed, but for some products and services, if they are coordinated, they have economic or practical advantages. The widest range of movies are sold in the most popular form, and the best matchmaking agency is most likely to help people schedule appointments.

Control Networks and standards have already profited from companies such as Microsoft, BSkyB, and eBay.

The uniqueness of these markets is that quality is not the key to commercial success. Microsoft's success was not because its operating system exceeded, but because of IBM's sponsorship that many users had adopted the Microsoft system early. The opportunity to use ordinary products to gain a dominant position in the market is the dream of a corporate strategist, but this opportunity is rare. Google is neither the next Microsoft nor even the next eBay. What Google users need is the best search engine, not the most popular search engine. If Google is no longer excellent, users will be reduced.

It is difficult for private-owned enterprises to have standards because of the conflict between widely accepted and patent control. This confrontation explains why Sony's Betamax lost to VHS in the format war and why visa replaced AMEX and became a leading credit card issuer.

These business lessons are the key to the oldest and most important compatibility with standard economics, which is language.

It is almost impossible to choose a Wan or Lu language because it is the sweetest, smoothest, and easiest to learn, or because it can be used to read the most beautiful literary works. Your native language is literally your mother's language. The first thing to learn is to communicate with your parents and then with your friends and neighbors.

Like all standards, native compatibility is a natural monopoly, but it is a local monopoly. So many different standards survive, each of which occupies a place. Only those languages that have too few people to meet their daily needs will disappear.

However, globalization creates a unique demand for global exchange standards. Latin once held this role, followed by French. But few people were living in a global world at that time. English is a new general language. When I was blocked by Italians in French streets, I naturally answered their questions in English. Then I felt strange. How do they know that I am British? Later I realized that they might not know.

As a result, we have the paradox described in the recent report of the British Council for Culture (British Council. English as the first language is declining. Once the most widely used mother tongue, English may have been surpassed by Hindi, Spanish, and various Chinese dialects. However, as a second language of English, its position is irretrievably rising. Local monopoly becomes less important because English-speaking areas account for a small proportion of population and purchasing power. Because English must be mastered in business activities, the global monopoly of English has become stronger.

As a second-language global language, will English be different from the local English as the first language? Will the economic advantages of English speakers increase or decrease? The financial service industry with the highest degree of globalization provides the answer. Now, English-speaking people play a role internationally, which is smaller than their French, German, or Spanish colleagues who speak bilingual languages. British companies also lose a dominant source.

The language in the trading hall is mixed with terminology and cursing. It is not the language of the British writer Jane Austen, just as the language in the Australian countryside is not the language of Jane Austen. But if traders or rural people come to the board room, he can understand what they say. To order food in a restaurant, you do not need the language skills of Joseph Conrad, Isaiah Berlin, or Kazuo Ishiguro, however, international mergers and acquisitions cannot be negotiated in English. The popularity of English is not good news for native English speakers, but it is only good for local English.
