As a monopoly in PC operating systems, Microsoft will attract the attention of the entire software industry no matter what it does. This is no exception. Microsoft announced that it would embed more powerful information security functions in the new operating system. Microsoft said that the most fundamental purpose of entering the security field is to solve the security problems of the operating system. The industry believes that this marks the beginning of Microsoft's entry into the information security market.
According to Microsoft engineers at the Global Technical Center, the biggest feature of Microsoft's new operating system Windows XP SP2 is the increased information security function. In addition to reminding users to update operating system patches and other traditional security measures in a timely manner, many new functions are added to the system. For example, firewall technology is embedded in the system so that computers can avoid hacker attacks as much as possible. At the same time, the newly embedded anti-virus system will be started before the system is started, and the third-party anti-virus software will not function, protects the system against viruses. In addition, the system has upgraded the anti-virus function of the email, regardless of the attachment or email content, if there is a virus code, it will be checked out.
A brand new service introduced by Windows XP SP2 is "security center ". It acts as a "Central Region" for users to easily change security settings. You only need to double-click the security center icon in the control panel to access this service.

The security center will run in the form of processes and detect the status of the following components on your computer at any time. The security center also checks whether Windows Firewall is enabled and whether other software firewalls exist by querying specific WMI vendors. If other anti-virus software is detected, for example, it indicates that an anti-virus software has passed the "Security Center" authentication and starts running. The security center also determines whether the software is the latest version and whether the real-time scanning feature has been enabled. This feature works with third-party antivirus software. Automatic update: the security center detects and ensures that "automatic update" is set to the recommended status, for example, automatically downloading and Installing emergency updates for users. If "automatic update" is disabled or configured as a non-recommended setting, "Security Center" will remind you to enable it.

Some people are in conflict with the release of Microsoft Service Pack 2, fearing that the emergence of this system will affect the sales of anti-virus software. But Mr. Liu Jie, a Japanese company, provided a new opportunity for this unstable security industry.
Regarding Microsoft's involvement in the field of anti-virus protection, Liu Jie put forward his own point of view: first, we should welcome Microsoft to join the Justice corps of anti-virus. The addition of new partners will help us deal with the increasingly powerful virus makers of programming technologies; it is also conducive to creating a secure operating environment for users. It is also a good thing for the entire anti-virus industry, not only will it not pose a threat to the industry, to some extent, it will promote the development process of the entire industry. Anti-virus software vendors in China do not need to worry about the fierce competition.
Through the following four points, we can calmly face the upcoming popularity of SP2:
1. Anti-Virus is a long-term accumulation process, as early as the DOS era, Microsoft has launched msav anti-virus software, and bundled in the MS-DOS5.0, but soon ended in failure, it takes time for Microsoft to get involved in the anti-virus field again, making it difficult for Microsoft to make a breakthrough in the short term.
2. Virus Protection Technology for domestic anti-virus software needs to be well done. Although Microsoft is a dominant operating system, its product line is too long and its energy is too scattered. Compared with professional anti-virus vendors, Microsoft may not have a technical advantage.
3. In terms of price, Microsoft products are generally positioned at the high end, while antivirus software in China has obvious price advantages, which is one of the reasons why domestic manufacturers can compete with Microsoft.
4. Judging from the overall virus development situation, the localization trend of a large number of harmful code and Trojan viruses is becoming more and more obvious. The local anti-virus software provides rapid emergency measures on virus samples intercepted first, anti-Virus Software made in China is becoming more and more international, and its technical content is no inferior to that of any foreign manufacturer. This is also the strong resistance Microsoft will face when it enters the Chinese market.
Although Microsoft is not a great threat from the above points, Microsoft has also sounded the alarm for domestic anti-virus software vendors, that is, domestic anti-virus manufacturers can no longer stick to their own secrets and are intoxicated in their own circles, instead, we should move to the international market as soon as possible to make anti-virus products of international brands.
While we are positive and optimistic about the overall situation, we should also note that if Microsoft promotes anti-virus software by promoting browsers in spite of the interests of the entire industry, this will bring a great impact to the entire industry. It is hoped that, in compliance with industry rules, Microsoft will compete equally and jointly promote the development and prosperity of the entire information security industry. At the same time, technological changes have brought about a shuffling opportunity in the anti-virus product market. Through cooperation with Microsoft, the opportunity to improve product quality will be greatly increased.
