In movies and television, we often see the explosion effect of airplanes, ships, cars and so on, in fact, these plots are mostly computer effects synthesis, this section we learn how to use the 3DS Max8 particle system to produce a more authentic car explosion effect.
There are several different ways to create explosions in 3ds max. Here we use animated textures to make them, and the effect looks more authentic.
Main production process: Create explosive plane-> create explosive material-> add opacity map-> clone explosion plane-> use particle array to make car explosion effect-> set the particle material and animation effect-> set visibility key points to make the car disappear-> Put the lights inside the car-> add a halo effect to the explosion-> set the animation of the explosion flare
The car we want to blow up is shown in Figure 1-1.

First, create the explosion plane
1, open the scene file. Click here to download the material file file, which contains the original file and animation material of the scene, and opens the original file, in which there is only one camera for a car.
2, click the "Create" Panel > "Geometry" > "Standard Basic Body" category, click the Flat item on the object type volume display bar, and then create a plane in the left view, and in the name and color volume bar, change the name to Explosion Plane01, in the parameters In the volume display bar, set the length of the plane to 2500 and the width to 5000. Set length fragment and width segment to 1.
3, the position of the adjustment plane in the view, on the Tools menu, select Snap To view, and in the Snap To view dialog box, make sure alignment Z is selected and click OK, and the plane is now aligned with the camera view, as shown in Figure 1-2.
