In this section we will introduce the WINCC Project Explorer, some of the concepts may not be understood at the moment, but it does not matter, the purpose of this section is to hope that you can have a complete understanding of the WINCC project, specific implementation details will be described in detail later.

The left device tree of the TripAdvisor development environment is responsible for managing all the available access interfaces and all device resources in the project in the computer. The first-level directory of the device tree contains projects, interface resources, and readers, as shown in.

Figure 2.3.1 Device Tree

The Project Resources directory contains all the sites we have created, and we can see the PLC stations (plc_1) and PC stations (pc-system_1)we created earlier. Here we focus on all the resources under the PC Station directory. Expand on

Figure of the PC Station, we can see that it contains a WinCC RT Professional Project and a local module, in addition to device configuration and on-line diagnostics.

Figure 2.3.2 PC Station Resources

Double-click on the "Device Configuration" under the PC Station directory to open it.

Figure 2.3.3 PC Station Resources

With WINCC RT Profin the right window, we can set the relevant properties of the WINCC project in the Properties window below.

Figure 2.3.4 WinCC Runtime Properties

Select the network card in the right-hand window, and we can set the related properties in the Properties window below.

Figure 2.3.5 Network Properties

Double-click the folder "HMI_RT_1[WINCC RT Professional]", we see should and the same.

Figure 2.3.6 WINCC Runtime Resources

Contains all the available resources for WINCC RUNTIME . Let's explain what they are used for. The first thing you see in "Device Configuration" is the same as the figure 2.3.4 WINCC Runtime Property , which is also used to set the properties of the WINCC project, which is not mentioned here.

Double click "Run System Settings", here we can set the WINCC runtime related properties, including the start of the service, screen style, archive cycle and so on.

Figure 2.3.7 Running System settings

Double-click on "Screen", where we can insert a new monitoring screen for the project, you can also group the screen. If you have a lot of pictures, it is necessary to group by process or area. The grouping method is to insert a new picture subfolder by right-clicking on the "screen" and selecting "Add Group".

Figure 2.3.8 New Group

Here I have added "Porter bit" and "welding Station", as shown in the completion.

Figure 2.3.9 New Screen subfolder

Double-click "Screen Management", where we can design menus and toolbars for the screen. However, in the industrial control project, the menu and toolbars are not very practical, so very few people will use this.

Figure 2.3.10 Menus and toolbars

Double-click on the "HMI variable", which is managed by the WINCC variable table, double click on "Show all variables" We can add a new variable to the WINCC project.

Figure 2.3.11 Variable table

Here we can create different table of variables according to the process or area, or we can group the variable tables according to the process or area. Here I create two new variable tables, corresponding to the porter position and the welding station respectively.

Figure 2.3.12 Creating a new variable table

Double click "Connect", here is a window to manage the communication connection between WINCC and PLC ( or other device ) . Here we can see the connection we have created before. In most cases we don't need to configure the connection here, just configure it in "devices and networks". If the plc ( or other device ) connected to our WINCC project is not configured for this project, such as a third-party plc , it is necessary to configure the connection here.

Figure 2.3.13 Communication Connection

Double click on "HMI Alarm", here is the window to manage the alarm information. For s7-1200 or third-party devices, we need to create an alarm message here by hand, and for a program_alarm , we can use the prodiag technology to automatically push alarm messages.

Figure 2.3.14 Alarm Message

Double click on "Recipes", here is the window for recipe management.

Figure 2.3.15 Recipe

Double-click Historical data, where you can add variables that need to be archived. The variables that are archived here can be displayed either through trend curves or online forms, or by using third-party software.

Figure 2.3.16 Historical data

Double click "Script", here you can see three subfolders, namely "VB Script", "C Script" and "C header file". You can insert a new script function or a header file in a subfolder, or you can group the script according to the tool.

Figure 2.3.17 Script

Double-click Scheduled Tasks, which are used to create global tasks. You can set a trigger condition for a task, call a script function, and so on. This program is quite the same as the global script in classic WINCC .

Figure 2.3.18 Scheduled Tasks

Double-click "Cycle", where you can see all the cycle information from WINCC , and you can also add a custom cycle. These cycles are typically used to set the archive period for the data, the refresh period of the screen, and so on.

Figure 2.3.19 Cycle

Double-click Reports, where you can create data reports and print jobs.

Figure 2.3.20 Report

Double-click the text and graphics list, where you can create a list of text and graphics for text fields and graphics fields.

Figure 2.3.21 Text and graphics list

Double-click user Management, where you can create an operator and administrator account with certain permissions, or set up user groups for batch management.

Figure 2.3.22 User Management

So far we have had a preliminary understanding of WINCC's Project Explorer. In the following chapters, we will introduce the detailed application of each feature in succession.
