Tip: Teach you how to attach a virtual machine to a server

Once you have categorized the workload of various servers in the data center, you need to consider how to allocate it to the host. If a host server runs 20 virtual machines, these virtual machines cannot and shouldn't compete for the same resources at the same time.

To optimize the deployment of virtual machines as much as possible, you must carefully analyze the workload to determine which processes and resources they need and when they need. For example, if you want to run the Windows service on the network, it should be like this:

Domain Controllers often need network and processor resources during peak hours, such as early morning or after lunch.

During off-peak hours, file and print servers need to use processors and network resources, such as around a.m. or around a.m.

Network servers often need network resources. If properly planned, stable traffic should be guaranteed.

The SQL Server and Exchange Server require stable disk and processor resources within 24 hours every day.

Enterprise applications usually have predefined resource requirements. For example, enterprise pay-as-you-go applicationsProgramIt needs to run every two months or every two weeks.

Testing and R & D systems are often used during non-work hours, or their workload changes are irregular.

The training system generally runs during the day, but the resource requirements are not very high.

Comparison of server resource requirements for different workloads

Not all workloads are busy at any time. In fact, some workloads are often in the "parking" or "no-load" status and seldom run. In this case, we need to make a reasonable plan to reduce the number of actual workloads.

Server workload allocation

Server workloads have different resource requirements in different time periods, which requires you to configure them properly, so that it does not compete for the same physical resources-CPU, Ram, network, or storage resource at the same time. Therefore, you must configure as many virtual workloads as possible to prevent the host server from carrying too many workloads. This means that a host server can run a data center, a network infrastructure server, a file server, one or more web servers, or even a set of enterprise applications. Of course, the key is to pay enough attention to the workloads that have different resource requirements in different periods.
