1. quickly switch accounts and configuration files

In the account and configuration file article, we have introduced the hierarchical relationship in Google Analytics. The top layer is the Google account, the second layer is the Google Analytics account, and the third layer is the configuration file, which contains a set of reports and data. When browsing reports, we often need to obtain data from different configuration files or accounts. The Google Analytics report provides us with a method to quickly jump to multiple accounts and configuration files.

In the orange area at the top of the Report page, there is a drop-down list on both sides. The list of accounts is displayed on the right and the list of configuration files is displayed on the left. By default, the two drop-down lists show the current account and configuration file. When you need to browse other configuration files or account information, you can select from the two drop-down lists. For example, when I browse a report in a bluewhale. CC account, all the configuration files under this account are listed in the drop-down list on the left. I can select any one to view. To view reports for other accounts, select the account name from the drop-down list on the right and select the corresponding configuration file from the drop-down list on the left.

2. One-click report time range Selection

When browsing Google Analytics reports, you often need to select different time periods to view reports. When we select a time range, we usually need to perform two operations: select the start date for the first time, and select the end date for the second time. Two operations are performed to determine the report time range. However, if you want to view data for the entire month or week, you only need one click.

For example, in the above section, when I want to select a time range of July 1 for the whole month, I only need to click the monthly title to set the report time range to July. When I want to select the third week of July, I just need to point out the gray mark before the third week to set the report time range to this week. Note that the default week in Google Analytics is from last Sunday to this Saturday. Instead of Monday to Sunday. Therefore, you may need to manually select one or more options.

3. Create a year-on-year comparison and period-over-period comparison report

When analyzing data, we usually compare the Time of the Data. Therefore, we need to select two different time periods for comparison and period-over-period comparison. The Time Selection Function of Google Analytics can also support these two operations. By default, when the date selection interface is opened, the primary time range is selected first. After the primary time range is selected, click the following comparison options, the system automatically compares the same date range with the primary time range. And generate reports. At this time, the report is a period-over-period report. The time range of the period-over-period report can be day, week, month, or any date range you choose. This mainly depends on the primary time range you have selected.

In addition to the period-over-period comparison report, the year-over-period comparison report is often used, that is, the comparison between the second week of this month and the second week of the previous month. This also requires you to select the main time range, and then click the comparison options below. After the system automatically matches the date range, you can manually select the time range for comparison.

In addition to the date selection method above, Google Analytics also provides another date Selection Method: timeline. In addition to date information, Google also provides traffic trends for websites during this time period on the timeline interface. The time range for selecting a report using the timeline is easier to operate than the previous method. You only need to select the slider of the date range twice.

4. Trend comparison between measurements

The website traffic trend chart is displayed at the top of the main interface of Google Analytics. You can also set the displayed metrics, such as pageviews trend and bounce rate trend, the relationship between the new access trends and stay time trends can be observed by comparing the trends of pageviews and bounce rates. You can choose from the drop-down menu at the top of the trend chart.

In the drop-down list, there are three Chart display models available, from left to right: a single metric trend chart, two metric comparison trend charts, a single metric and a full-site metric comparison trend chart. Note that the indicator trend chart and date comparison function cannot be used at the same time. When you select two dates for data comparison, you can only view the trend of one metric. Other comparison functions will be disabled.

5. Custom dashboard

Dashboard is the console of Google Analytics, that is, the first interface displayed after entering the configuration file. In dashboard, besides the two metrics at the top, the following four parts can be customized. Dashboard supports up to 8 custom indicator previews. Here you can first Delete the unimportant indicator preview box, then go deep into the report, find the key indicator report you are concerned about, and select Add to dashboard at the top of the page. This report will automatically appear in the dashboard metrics preview box. In addition, you can adjust the position of these Indicator preview boxes. Make them more logical. Finally, add the personalized dashboard to the email subscription. You can receive the website's key indicator reports on a regular basis.
