After using Outlook Express for a period of time, you will find that the folder for storing emails will become very large, because as the number of emails sent and received increases, a large number of emails occupy the hard disk space. The following several methods can free up space for the hard disk by OE.
1. Transfer and save important attachments
If the received email contains important attachments, save the attachments elsewhere. If the email body and attachments have no reserved value, delete the email. Open the email with an attachment, right-click the attachment to be transferred, and select "Save as" in the pop-up menu.
2. Filter attachments using "replies"
If the body of the email is retained and you need to delete the attachment, you can use "reply" to filter out the attachment and retain the body of the email. By clicking the "reply" button in the View window of the email, the email will automatically filter out the attachments and convert them to the return status (only including the body content ), click "save" to save the email to "draft. If you think this is inconvenient to view, you can also transfer the mail to a custom folder. Delete the original email.
3. Use the compression function to completely delete useless emails
When deleting an email in OE, it is not actually deleted from the hard disk, but is transferred to "deleted email", even if the email is deleted again in "deleted email, emails will still be stored on the hard disk, but the deletion mark is added. In this case, you can click "File> folder> compress all folders" in the main OE window to delete useless emails. If this operation is applied for the first time, the disk space released will be considerable.
4. Change the storage location to release the system partition Space
The default storage location of OE is in the system partition. To avoid occupying too many system partitions, you can modify the storage location of OE. In the main OE window, click "Tools> options" to go to the "maintenance" option and click "Storage folder". Follow the prompts to change the mail storage location.
