Tp-link Router bridging feature implementation (WDS)

The router has been bridged several times, but each time forget, to re-find information. Record here for easy use later.

Preparatory work:

1. Set up local Area Connection/wireless network connection (depending on which router is configured): IP-192.168.1.100 Mask -255.255.255.0 Gateway -192.168.1.1

The steps are as follows:

First, the primary router settings

1, if the main router (example ip:192.168.1.1) is already networked, then go to the Router Management page (http://192.168.1.1), use the fixed channel (recommended 1, 6, 11), turn off the RSS function, record the main router's LAN port IP address, exit.

2. If the primary router is not networked, go to the Router Management page (http://192.168.1.1).

3, set the fixed channel, turn off the RSS function.

4, set the wireless encryption mode for WPA/WPA2 or WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, password settings should not be associated with the number of life (such as mobile phone number, birthday, Social Security number).

5, the master router is set up, restart the router.

Second, sub-router settings

1, initialize the sub-router, press and hold the reset key.

2. Go to the Sub-router Management page (http://192.168.1.1).

3. Set the LAN port IP to 192.168.1.2 and restart the router.

3. Go to the Sub-router Management page (http://192.168.1.2).

4. Select the channel that channel is the main router and turn off RSS.

5. Open the WDS feature and click the "Scan" button.

6. After the corresponding master router network, click "Connect".

7, choose the encryption method corresponding to the primary router, and enter the password, save but do not restart first.

8, in the Wireless Security page, set the Wireless encryption method and password (can be different from the primary router).

9, about the DHCP function, it is recommended to enable, the allocation of the address pool is the last part of the primary router address pool (such as the primary router's address pool is 192.168.1.100~200, the sub-router's address pool can be set to 192.168.1.180~200), if DHCP is not turned on, Then you need to manually assign the IP address to the other terminal, more cumbersome.

10. The gateway is set to the LAN port IP address of the primary router (192.168.1.1 in this example).

11, sub-router Setup is complete, restart exit.

Finally, after the router setup is complete, change the IP settings of the local Area Connection/wireless network connection to random allocation.
