Canonical has just officially released Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (xenial Xerus), a long-term support version, officially providing up to 5 years of technical support (including regular update/bug repair/security upgrades) until April 2021, and follow-up will be routinely released 16.04.1, 16.04.2, 16.04.3 and other upgraded versions.
The biggest change in Ubuntu 16.04 is the Linux version 4.4 system kernel, which has been upgraded for almost all system applications , including LibreOffice 5.1.2, Mozilla Firefox 45.0.2, Python 3.5, OpenSSH 7.2P2, PHP 7.0, MySQL 5.7, GCC 5.3, Binutils 2.26, Glibc 2.23, Apt 1.2, GNOME 3.18 Stack, and supports snap format installation.
These preinstalled applications were imported into the WebKit2 engine , while the original Ubuntu Software Center was not used and replaced with GNOME software in the GNOME stack, but the name was changed to Ubuntu Software, The Gnome calendar is also added by default.
Drive,AMD's official Fglrx graphics driver, xorg.conf are removed, it is recommended to use open source Radeon, Amdgpu, but also from Linux reverse import of the new source-driven source code, to provide a better experience.
The look doesn't change much, just the icons, the Unity interface makes minor tweaks, and supports high-DPI cursor scaling.
