Use the virtual serial port to add a pair of serial port COM2 and COM3 on the host.
In the virtual machine to add a virtual serial port, you can choose COM2 or COM3, this pair of default is interoperability.
Modify the Isolinux/isolinux in the LiveCD ISO. CFG is added in the first line
SERIAL 1 115200
For LiveCD modified isolinux.cfg downloaded from the official website, the following is shown below
SERIAL 1 115200 # d-i Config version 2.0 include menu.cfg default VESAMENU.C32 prompt 0 Timeout 0
Then modify the Isolinux/txt. The Append parameter for the boot entry in CFG is as follows
Append file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz console=tty1 CONSOLE=TTYS1,115200N8--
Save the modified image file.
Then open the serial port 3 in the SECURECRT, set the baud rate to 115200.
Note: Usually on-line tutorials in the Guide to modify isolinux.cfg by default using serial port 0, but I found in the experiment, in the VMware virtual machine I added the serial port is not ttyS0, can only start from 0 to try, just changed to 1 when it is possible. So if you find that the above configuration to specify the serial port 1 does not, it can also try the other serial port, but isolinux only support 0-3, so do not have to try a lot.
