Ubuntu Official Forum encountered a SQL injection attack, someone claimed to have a copy of the Ubuntu Forum database. Thankfully, Ubuntu uses a single sign-on technology, where the user's password is stored as a random string and encrypted. Canonical ensure attackers cannot hack into Ubuntu's code warehouse

A number of security bulletins were released to fix the Linux kernel bug for all supported Ubuntu operating systems. An attacker could cause a system crash by initiating a denial-of-service attack on the memory manager in the Linux kernel package.



Slackex, based on Slackware 14.2, was released with the latest Linux kernel 4.6.4 and KDE 4.14.21.



Ubuntu Gnome 16.04.1 LTS will remove Gnome Maps from the default installation package. The Maps app does not work properly because of MapQuest access failure.
