Ubuntu11.10-desktop-i386.iso default installation uses LIGHTDM as the default login, which says open XDMCP for remote login
First turn off the firewall
sudo UFW disables
Ubuntu uses the protocol is RDP, if not first loaded up
sudo apt-get install XRDP
sudo apt-get install vnc4server tightvncserver
In "Preferences-Remote Desktop" there, set Allow Remote Desktop, allow control.
Add the following in/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf to open XDMCP
[Xdmcpserver]
Enabled=true
Then sudo restart LIGHTDM
Run the Xbrowser program in Xmanager4 on a Windows system create a new Xmanager session in the host enter the IP address here other configurations do not change including the port number to determine exit. Then double-click the new Xmanager session to see the login screen

In the case of default installation, the desktop used by ubuntu11.10 is ubuntu-desktop unity; After installing XRDP, using Xmanager, or using vncviewer connection, there are some unity-2d related errors. The feature is not functioning properly when accessing the desktop. So remove the unity-related desktop.
