Method 1:
1. Install Samba first. Enter sudo apt-Get install Samba on the terminal.
2. system settings on the left-side unity panel-print-add-network printer-Windows Printer using Samba
3. Enter the IP address and name of the shared printer in the text box after SMB.
The lab printer uses the Windows XP system, so let's take a look at the steps to view the IP address and name of the shared printer under XP.
IP Address: Start-run-cmd-ipconfig. The IP address is displayed in the output.
Share Name: Control Panel-printer and fax-share property. The share name is displayed on the share property tab.
My name is SMB: // 192.168.16.166/maid. Do not write an error in the IP address or shared name.ArticleNote the case sensitivity.
4. Click forward-select a printer from the database (My is HP)-forward-select a printer driver on the leftProgram(My name is laser jet 1320)-select the recommended driver on the right side and keep moving forward.
5. Enter the printer information-Application-print the test page. OK!
In this way, you can use a LAN printer.
At the beginning, I google some methods on the Internet. Many people say that I chose appsocket/HP when I added a network printer. However, when I finally printed the test page, the printer always did not respond. The printer status bar says: in progress-the printer is busy. after a while, it may be said that the printer is not connected, which is depressing. More than one article on the internet is successful using this method, but I don't know why I am not doing this. After I successfully used the above method, I tried appsocket/HP again.
