Ubuntu9.04 share files with XP in Virtualbox

Preface: although a standalone ubuntu10.10 system already exists, I still don't want to switch the system due to some simple problems. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Dr. Song's book "linux device driver development details" included ubuntu9.0.4 on a CD. Then I tried to install samba, but it was still fruitless, prompting that the software source was unavailable-but the virtual machine could also access the Internet normally. Baidu spent half a day trying to modify the source, and the phenomenon remained. After a short break, I changed the Keyword: "virtualbox XP file sharing". Originally, not only samba was available, but the virtual machine itself was supported (this was actually used before when I used the vmwarevm, it's just a long time to forget ). Yes. 1. Installation: VirtualBoxGuestAdditionVirtualBox directly carries this ISO file, which can be found in the VirtualBox Installation File root directory. Directly click "Install VB Guest Addition" on the main menu of the VM. The Unbuntu will automatically mount an iso file. Open the terminal, under the cd/media/cdrom0 directory, and run sudo./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run. After the following information appears, the installation is successful. Verifying archive integrity... all good. uncompressing VirtualBox 3.0.4 Guest Additions for Linux installation ................................ ........................................ ........................................ ........................................ ........................................ .............................. virtualBox 3.0.4 Guest Additions installationBuilding the VirtualBox G Uest Additions kernel module... building the shared folder support kernel module... building the drm support kernel module... www.2cto.com Installing the VirtualBox Guest Additions... successfully installed the VirtualBox Guest Additions. you must restart your guest system in order to complete the installation. after restart, you can move the mouse between the Host system and the virtual system without pressing the Ctrl key on the right, and the windows of the virtual system can be pulled, if the location is appropriate, the Ubuntu Desktop will be automatically displayed in full screen. If you have enabled sharing the clipboard with the Host system, you can copy, cut, and paste the clipboard between the Host system and the virtual system.
2. After the shared folder is restarted, click "device"-> allocate data space and add a shared folder. The fixed and temporary options indicate whether the folder is persistent. Share names can be any one you like, such as "share". Try to use an English name. 3. mount the shared folder and enter the virtual Ubuntu. On the command line terminal, enter: sudo mkdir/mnt/Sharesudo mount-t vboxsf Share/mnt/Share where "Share" is the name of the previously created shared folder. OK. Now Ubuntu and the host can upload files to each other. The shared files are stored in the mnt/Share directory. Www.2cto.com is the final success !! Error !!!! Mounting failed with the error: Protocol error is encountered later during login. It may be because the directory created under/mnt cannot be mounted due to permission issues. Instead, you can directly create a directory under the current user directory and then mount it. The error message does not seem right. After seeing the VirtualBox sharing settings, you can do it again. The following error occurs when accessing the shared folder of windows in ubuntu in winxp: lihacker @ lihacker-laptop: /$ sudo mount-t vboxsf share/mnt/share/sbin/mount. vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: Invalid argument, replace share with Share, and then OK. Share the XP shared folder directory in lower case: lihacker @ lihacker-laptop:/$ sudo mount-t vboxsf Share/mnt/share1. To use the shared folder function, you must install linux guest additions and install the enhanced functions. Note that this step is not followed. 2. lsmod | grep vboxvfs. Make sure that the vboxvfs module is loaded. If not, use sudo modprobe vboxvfs to load 3, create a new folder, sudo mkdir/home/ych/snapshot 4, sudo mount-t vboxsf Share/home/ych/Share: sudo mount-t vboxsf shared folder name Virtual Machine shared folder directory author jerry20000
