UEFI mode installation WINDOWS10 and Deepin

Environment Introduction

Lao Mo first back up the important data to the mobile hard disk, because the first installation mentality is not the end.

Hardware environment:

• Motherboard Support UEFI
• Mechanical HDD 1000G
• Solid-State Drive 120G

Software Environment:

• Windows 10 Original
• Deepin 15.6

First, the preparatory work

Two USB drives, download the Windows operating system and the Deepin operating system.

Windows10 with the original, old Mo don't like Ghost version, after installation is full of ads. The original need to install Thunder to download, in order to facilitate the old Mo back to Windows system downloaded the Windows 10 image file. Deepin from NetEase Open source Mirror station download than official website download much faster, but old mo before download finished.

Second, make the Startup disk (a) Windows Startup disk production

Start the Windows system, plug in the USB flash drive, format it in FAT32 format, then unzip the Windows 10 image file and copy the files to the U disk.

We do not need the partition before installing the system, but what needs to be done is to delete all the previous partitions and convert them to the GPT partition type, and choose a partition tool to delete them according to your custom. Lao Mo directly with the Linux under the completion of Fdisk, although the gadget is the command line, but the function is very powerful.

Four, installation system

Be sure to set it to UEFI mode in the BIOS before installing the system, because different BIOS setup methods are not the same, where Lao Mo does not discuss.

Old Mo after setting up the relevant content, set the boot to boot only from UEFI and restart the computer.

(i) Installing Windows

This is nothing to say, insert a USB flash drive, because the hard disk is empty, so automatically boot from the USB stick. To the partition, you do not have to deliberately split the uefi and recovery partitions, the two partitions Windows automatic.

Old MO Add partition, then enter 100G, the program automatically becomes 500M recovery partition, 100M EFI partition, the remaining is the C disk partition. Then add a 300G D-disk partition. Note: When you first add a partition, the system automatically scores three partitions. After the completion of the area to start the installation, according to the prompt step by step installation on the line.

(ii) Installation of Deepin

The same way, insert the U-disk, after pressing F12 (different motherboard not the same, you can set the boot from UEFI USB drive in the BIOS), choose to boot from the USB stick.
This people are very familiar with, all loaded n times. We mainly note that because it is a GPT partition, there is no concept of logical partitioning, it is all the primary partition. The other partitions are the same as the previous installation, the difference is that you want to add an EFI partition, select the EFI partition in the Partition interface > file system, and the default is 300M size. Note The EFI partition cannot select a mount point, which should be mounted automatically, just like a swap partition.

All right, old mo. According to the above partition scheme, everything went well.

Perhaps we have a question, our file system selection Ext4 can choose mount point, such as:/,/home, etc. But which directory does the EFI partition mount to? The answer is:

/boot/efi

Another thing is, many small partners to install the system prompt to turn off the WINDOWS10 Quick start function, old Mo with two hard drives installed, there is no problem.

V. Small episode

After the installation of the dual system, everything is OK, back to Windows, found not to set the wallpaper, originally did not activate. Lao Mo has ready-made tools to activate, although immoral, but now basically no windows, is going to the Linux platform. Find the Activation tool right-click, My god!! Wait 15 seconds to appear right-click menu, how can be so slow, later found in the background in the Automatic update program it! Old mo very uncomfortable!!

After successful activation, switch to Deepin OS finishing this article, found that Boot/efi is not attached to my 120G hard disk, but mounted on the windows of the hard drive on the EFI partition. If you have multiple swap partitions, how will the system be mounted? We do not let you choose mount point in the installation, is the system automatically mount, old Mo think is not the system first discovered/DEV/SDA this hard disk has EFI partition on Mount, should be so.

Contrary to their intentions is bullying, old mo to change back.

First, let's take a look at: How to mount in/etc/fstab, modify it on the line:

We found that/boot/efi was mounted on the 3017-fbae partition, so we just have to find the UUID of the 120G HDD EFI partition.

Check that: UUID is 5130-9649, modify the/etc/fstab file can be. Also note that there is data in the original EFI partition, so Lao MO copied the previous copy:
