During our deployment and promotion of IPv6 protocol, we need to emphasize the improvement of IPv6 routing protocol. In some routing aspects, although the routing of the previous network protocol version leads the entire market, with the commercialization of the new version, IPv6 Routing Protocol has also been supported by multiple parties, now let's take a look at this content.
IPv6 unicast routing protocol
The implementation of the IPv6 unicast routing protocol is similar to that of IPv4. Some of them are simple extensions (such as ISISv6 and BGP4 +) on the original protocol, while others are completely new versions (such, RIPng, OSPFv3 )。
1 RIPng
The next-generation RIP Protocol (RIPng) is an extension of the RIP-2 protocol in the original IPv4 network. Most RIP concepts can be used in RIPng 。
To apply the RIP Protocol to IPv6 networks, RIPng modifies the original RIP Protocol:
UDP port: Use UDP port 521 to send and receive route information
Multicast address: Use FF02: 9 as the RIPng router multicast address in the local range of the link.
Route Prefix: Use the IPv6 address of 128 bits as the route prefix.
Next Hop address: Use a 128-bit IPv6 address
