Understanding HashMap Load Factor Loadfactor

The load factor is the extent to which the elements in the Hsah table are filled. If: the larger the load factor, the more the filling of elements, the advantage is that the space utilization is high, but: the opportunity for conflict increased. Conversely, the smaller the load factor, the less the fill, the advantage is that the chance of conflict is reduced, but: the space is much wasted.

The greater the chance of a conflict, the higher the cost of the lookup. Conversely, the smaller the cost of finding. As a result, the smaller the search time.

Therefore, a balance and compromise must be found between "opportunities for Conflict" and "space utilization". This balance and compromise is essentially a balance and tradeoff between the well-known "time-space" contradictions in the data structure.
