UNIX decompression tool

Today, we use the uncompress command in UNIX to decompress the. Z file, uncompress *. Z [Destination path];

On Ubuntu 9.10, run the man uncompress command to go To the gzip and gunzip help pages,

You can view the help and cannot find out how to decompress the file to the specified directory,

 

Use the following command in the command line:

Gunzip webserviceprj.rar/Media/38db-b9bf/work

 

Result:
Gzip: webserviceprj.rar: Unknown suffix -- ignored
Gzip:/Media/38db-b9bf/work is a directory -- ignored

 

Conclusion:

Gzip does not support compressed files with a suffix of .rar.

 

Finally, unrar x archivefile destinationpath is used to decompress the file to the specified directory!
