Both until And till can be used as prefixes and hyphens. When used to determine a sentence, the verb of the main sentence only uses continuity, and the action it represents continues until the time indicated by till or until, meaning "...... Until "; when used for a negative sentence, the verb of the main sentence is generally non-continuity or continuity. The action it represents does not occur until the time indicated by till or, until ...... (Only )". For example:

She watched TV until/till her mother came back.

She watched TV until her mother came back. (Watching TV continues until the mother returns)

She Didn "t watch TV until/till her mother came back.

She didn't watch TV until her mother came back. (Watching TV does not happen until her mother returns)

In order for the students to learn more about their usage, I will introduce some related knowledge points in detail:

1. Until and till can be used as prepositions or hyphens. When used as a prefix, nouns or adverbs are followed. When used as a conjunction, it is often used to guide a time adverbial clause. When they are used in a definite sentence, the main verb is often a continuous verb, indicating that the action continues until the time indicated by till/. They usually use the current time instead of the general future when guiding the time adverbial clause. For example:

They worked until/till six o "clock.

They have been working until six o'clock.

He will wait for you until/till your mother comes.

He will wait for you to come to your mother.

2. Not until/Till indicates "...... ", The main sentence is often used as a termination verb (that is, non-continuity), indicating that the time indicated by until/till is reached, this action will happen. For example:

He didn "t go to bed until/till eleven last night.

He went to bed at midnight last night.

She Didn "t know me until/till last week.

She didn't know me until the last week.

Einstein was not able to return to his homeland until the war was over.

It was not until after the war that Einstein was able to return home.

Note: When not until is placed at the beginning of a sentence, the inverted sequence should be used. For example, the third example above can be changed to the inverted syntax at the beginning of the sentence: Not until the war was over was Einstein able to return to his homeland.

3. If you want to place it at the beginning of a sentence, you can only use until instead of till, for example:

Error: Till I finished my homework, Mother didn "t let me out.

Positive: until I finished my homework, Mother didn "t let me out.

It wasn't until I finished my homework that my mother was allowed to go out.

4. Emphasize that the not until structure often appears in the structure. The common sentence is: it is/was not... That. See the following sentence:

She Didn "t find me until I called her from behind.

I was not found until I called her later.

To emphasize the structure: It was not until I called her from behind that she found me.

Note: however, when not until is placed at the beginning of the sentence to form an inverted sentence and until is placed at the beginning of the sentence, the until cannot be replaced with till. For example:

It was not until 1920 that regular radio broadcast began.

It was not until 1920 that regular radio broadcasts began.

Not until 12 O "clock last night did Tom come back. (inverted)

Tom did not come back until last night.

Until I was 20 I had never been away from my hometown.
