This article mainly introduces how to upgrade the VRP version of the Huawei 3COM router, introduces the FTP upload and upgrade method, and provides detailed command operations.
If you are familiar with CISCO devices, you must know that the IOS version number is used in CISCO devices to indicate the new and old network operating systems. With the increase of network throughput, access devices, and speed requirements, the indicators of the vro in the early stage cannot meet our current needs. In this case, we need to update the internal version of the device. In addition, many device software vulnerabilities are also compensated by upgrading the internal version.
The CISCO device solves the above problem by upgrading the IOS version. The definition of IOS version is removed from the Huawei 3COM device and replaced by the VRP version. In fact, it is the same as the IOS version, but it is called differently. Today, I will introduce to you how to upgrade the VRP of the Huawei 3COM device.
FTP upload and upgrade method:
The most common method for upgrading the VRP version is the FTP upgrade method. First, create an FTP site on the vro and then access the FTP server on a PC in the network, upload the downloaded VRP file to the vro on the FTP server. 1)

Step 1: log on to the Huawei 3COM router, enter "local-user ftp service-type ftp password simple 111111", and press enter to create an account. The account has FTP permissions and the user name is FTP, the password is 111111.
Step 2: Set the Huawei 3COM router as an FTP server and run the "ftp-server enable" command ". In this way, other computers in the network can access the FTP site created by the vro through the username FTP and password 111111.
Step 3: Go to "start-> Run" in the taskbar on the PC and enter ftp 10.0.0.1, in which 10.0.0.1 is the IP address of the vro we set.
Step 4: Enter the ftp user name and password 111111 after logon. Then run the pwd command to display the current route of the vro, use the LCD to display the path of the local PC, rename the VRP version file to system, and put it in the local directory.
TIPS: you do not need to add any suffix after you change it to system.
Step 5: Use the bin command to change the transmission mode to the binary mode. Use the hash command to display the transmission progress during transmission.
Step 6: run the "put system" command to upload the local VRP file to the vrorom ROM. "#" appears on the page, indicating that the upload starts. 2)

Step 7: Use the reboot command to restart the vro when "file transmit success" is displayed. Finally, you must disable the FTP server to prevent unauthorized users from attacking the vro in the future. The command used is "undo ftp enable ".
TIPS:
You can query and download the bootrom and vrp versions of a specific device from the data.w.wei.com Software Center. In addition, you must back up the settings on the vro before uploading and updating the VRP version to reduce the loss caused by failed updates. If the upgrade is interrupted, upgrade the correct version again. Do not restart the vro during the upgrade; otherwise, the vro will not start properly.
