TL-LINK series products because of low price and stable quality, solid by the majority of users kiss, its "+" series router provides a dual WAN port design, but for how to use such a device, users have many questions. We take R480T + as an example to describe in detail the WAN port settings, online WAN port detection, traffic balancing control, and other settings in this series of routers.
1. WAN port settings
For example, in an environment with two lines, a 10 m optical fiber line and a 2 m ADSL line. Use static IP settings for optical fiber lines. After selecting WAN Port 1 to set IP addresses and DNS servers, pay attention to the download bandwidth settings and upload bandwidth settings at the bottom of the page. Please fill in relevant parameters, as shown in 1.

Select WAN Port 2 for the ADSL line, PPPOE for the connection type, and enter the authentication username and password provided by the ISP. The connection mode can be selected as needed. Enter the advanced settings at the bottom of the page, enter the user's local DNS server address, and enter the download bandwidth and upload bandwidth value. 2.

Tip 1: filling in and downloading bandwidth is very important for realizing automatic bandwidth balancing of the line. If you do not fill in the corresponding bandwidth, the line traffic will be allocated at. As mentioned in the example, when the download traffic exceeds 4 MB, line 2 will be overloaded, causing some users to be unable to connect or dropped.
Ii. Online WAN port Detection
For the settings of this project, refer to the following principles:
1. ping the target IP address to be the gateway of the WAN port. For example, we can view the WAN port gateway in the running status of the vro, such as 10.1.58.1, if the gateway cannot be pinged, select a dns ip address that can be pinged.
2. The request IP address of the DNS should be set to the actual DNS address of the WAN port, for example, DNS202.96.134.133 of Shenzhen Telecom. If you ping the target IP address, then it should be set as the backup dns ip address.
3. Try to avoid pinging the target IP address the same as the DNS request IP address, because the corresponding WAN port of the router will be automatically disabled once the server corresponding to this IP address has a problem!
Tip 2: online detection can make a correct judgment on the connection status of the line. If no settings are made, the detection of the disconnection status will be slow, resulting in exceptions of some connections in the network, for example, failed to open some web pages. For more information about the online detection settings of the WAN port, see Figure 3.

Iii. Traffic balancing control
When the two lines are different ISPs, the access requests to the DNS servers of the two ISPs must go out of the correct WAN port. Otherwise, the access may be unstable. In this example, assume that the DNS server address provided by ISP line 1 is 10.10.10.1, And the DNS server address provided by ISP line 2 is 255.255.20.1.
Users who use special resources in a line can enable the traffic balancing control function. For example, the two lines provide different special movie and game access. To better apply such resources, you also need to enable the attachment IP address scheduling rules in the traffic balancing control. For example, if line 1 contains a movie server provided by an ISP, the IP address is 218.125.10.10, and line 2 contains a game server provided by an ISP, the IP address is 202.96.134.168, add two scheduling rules in the traffic balancing control, and click Enable to make it take effect, 4.

For another application instance, if one line is used as the main access line and the other line is a backup line, you can set the following rules to prioritize data outflow from WAN Port 1. When a line exception occurs, it will also switch to line 2, provided that the online detection of the WAN port needs to be set.
Tip 3: If you only use one line for access, disable unused ports because the automatic balancing of the vro determines that the two ports are enabled at the same time, but they are not actually connected. At the same time, do not check the WAN port of the corresponding line to avoid exceptions.
Appendix: how to obtain the IP address of a movie server ?? When we cannot directly obtain the movie server from the service provider, we need to obtain the IP address through other methods. We will introduce two methods to achieve this goal:
(1) Use the netstat command.
Go to the command line on your computer and run the command netstat. You will see a similar interface.

Then start watching a movie. When the screen appears, run the netstat command in the command line. You will see the screen similar to the previous one.

After comparing the image with the previous one, you will find one or more entries. In this example, 202.103.134.133 is the IP address of the movie server. Fifth, the user may ask, what if there is more than one record on the screen below than on the screen above? If so, you should try it one by one.
(2) Use the active ports software.
Some users may not use commands to display the connection mode. In addition, this mode is not real-time enough, and sometimes you need to enter it again. Now we will introduce a small tool for viewing remote IP addresses: active ports. It can be easily searched on the Internet (for example, on www.google.com ).
