Use the polybump application in cryengine3 to calculate high-resolution textures

Prerequisites

All models must be exported to the. OBJ file format.

If you want to calculate from a separate material, you need to export the low mode with material.

Note:You can find the polybump application in the SDK installation directory.

\ Tools \ polybumpapplication.exe

\ Tools \ polybumpapplication64.exe

In 64-bit operating system, crytekrecommends using polybumpapplication64.exe, which can process more polygon During computation.

Pre-calculation settings:

You can access the computing settings panel under the Document menu.

Perform the following steps for calculation settings:

1. Load Low Mode: after the model is loaded, a dialog box is displayed. You can use this dialog box to restrict the calculation of certain polygon.

2. Select the material you want to calculate.

3. Load one or more high modulus for Calculation

4. This option can be used to obtain a smooth high-mode normal. zbrush does not need to export a smooth normal. Therefore, this option is useful for rough calculation.

5. Load cagemesh (cage mesh): cagemesh can block the light During computation, which makes it easy to create a normalmap around the polygon. For example, in the finger or some fold area.

6. Select a Ray Tracing Algorithm

7. Block map quality settings: high-quality settings will lead to long computing. to speed up this process, crytek recommends low-quality settings and calculate the normalmap size twice.

8. anti-aliasing sampling filtering settings: This option allows you to set the normalmap sampling filtering. disabling it can speed up the calculation process and use full3x3 for final calculation settings.

9. Set the calculated Light Length: If you find a vulnerability in normalmap, increase the value. This value is reduced if the light hits an unexpected area (for example, a part of the right leg is rendered to the left leg or the ear is rendered to the area behind the ear.

10. Set the resolution of the calculated result.

11. Set the computing priority of a process: Use a high priority when the current process occupies the cup, and use a low priority when the background computing normalmap.

12. Preview input: This function is used to preview a high-mode and Low-mode box version. Check whether they are consistent.

After completing the calculation settings, you can use document-> Start computation (create SRF) to start calculation.

This tool generates a preview of the normalmap.

After calculation, a preview is displayed.

Save the data into a. SRF file and export the image data to the crytif texture format through document-> export SRF to Tif.

Saving the computing data into an SRF file allows you to recreate the texture with different settings without repeating the entire computing process. This data is stored in a 16-bit format instead of a standard 8-bit output format.
