Tan function

Returns the tangent value of a corner.

Tan(number)

The number argument can be any valid numeric expression that represents a corner as radians.

Description

Tan takes a corner and returns the ratio of two right-angled sides of the right triangle. This ratio is the ratio between the length of the side and the length of the adjacent side of the angle in the right triangle.

Multiplying the angle by pi/180 can be converted to radians, and the radian multiplied by the 180/PI can be converted to an angle.

The following example uses the Tan function to return the tangent of an angle:

Dim MyAngle, MyCotangentMyAngle = 1.3                     Defines an angle in radians. Tan(MyAngle) ' calculate cotangent.
