For project requirements, I need to install Microsoft Visual C ++ Professional version 6 SP5.
But it is the setup.exe under the installation directory at the time of installation, and the error launching acmboot.exe is displayed, which cannot be performed in any case.
I thought it was a problem to install the CD, because every installation was performed on the CD, and daemon and image installation files were installed.
Search for the solution and see a Post saying:
(1) In the setup directory of the installation directory, copy vs98ent. stf to the acmsetup. STF file;
(2) Copy all files under the setup directory to the root directory of the installation directory;
(3) Run acmsetup. EXE to install acmsetup. EXE.
Follow the instructions above to go smoothly to the installation process. However, when you search for a component that has been installed, the component is in an infinite loop and cannot be searched.
What should I do?
Continue to find the cause and find that you also need to modify the registry key value:
(4) change the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/Microsoft/visualstudio/6.0/Setup/Microsoft Visual C ++/setupwizard/aspo key value to 00000000 (displayed as 0x00000000)
Run acmsetup. EXE again. The installation is successful!
